The best weapon in Vampire Survivors depends on what you are trying to do. The pick that gets you past minute 30 against Death is not the same pick that maxes out Christine's XP grind, which is not the same pick that melts Bone Zone bosses for an unlock run. There are five common goals players run into, and each one has a clear top weapon. Pick your goal below, get the weapon and its evolution path, then click through to the full guide for that weapon.
King Bible into Unholy Vespers
Infinite Corridor +
Crimson Shroud
Phieraggi or
Thousand Edge
Gorgeous Moon (evolved Pentagram)
Victory Sword or
Bracelet chainIf your first run ended at minute 5, the issue is almost always positioning, not weapon damage. Auto-targeting weapons let you focus on movement instead of aim. Take three weapons that hit on their own, plus a defensive utility, and you will reach minute 20 without learning anything new about the game.
For your first run
King Bibleinto
Unholy VespersOrbits around you on every cooldown. No aiming, no positioning, no setup beyond picking up Spellbinder. King Bible sits at B-tier base in our tier list (linked at the top of this page), evolving into a reliable mid-tier evolution.
Santa Waterinto
La BorraDamaging puddles that follow you. Drops Attractorb as a bonus passive that pulls XP gems toward you, fixing the most common beginner mistake (missing gems).
Laurelinto
Crimson ShroudBrief invincibility on hit. Crimson Shroud is the best defensive weapon in the game per our tier list, and Laurel evolves cleanly with Metaglio rings from Holy Forbidden chests.
Avoid
Garlic and
Cherry Bomb as your first three picks. Both look strong early but lose value past minute 10 when enemies stop reaching melee range. Beginners often overweight these because the early-game feedback is positive.
At minute 30, Death spawns. You cannot kill Death with normal weapon damage. Endless past 30 minutes is a survival problem, not a damage problem, and the answer is a specific two-weapon combo that has been the meta since v1.0.
The Death-killing combo
Clock Lancetinto
Infinite CorridorHalves the HP of every enemy on screen each cycle, including Death. According to the wiki, Infinite Corridor and Crimson Shroud are the only weapons that can kill the Reaper. Read the Clock Lancet guide and Infinite Corridor guide for the freeze-utility setup.
Laurelinto
Crimson ShroudCaps incoming damage at 10 (minus your Armor) and retaliates when charges are spent. Pair with Infinite Corridor and you survive Death indefinitely. See our Crimson Shroud guide for the Metaglio rings setup.
Unholy Vespers
VandalierRun high-output weapons in the remaining slots to clear the swarm while Infinite Corridor handles bosses. Vandalier in particular frees a slot via the Peachone + Ebony Wings union.
Boss damage is a different stat profile than swarm clear. You want raw single-target output, ideally with crits or instant-kill mechanics. Per our tier list, three weapons consistently top boss-damage benchmarks: one for sustained DPS, one for burst, one for utility.
For sustained DPS on bosses
Phiera Der Tuphello +
Eight The Sparrowunion
PhieraggiPulsing lances of light that pierce hordes and stack damage on stationary bosses. With cooldown reduction it has near-permanent uptime. Both base weapons appear in the directory below.
Knifeinto
Thousand EdgeZero cooldown, focused forward damage. Best in narrow corridors like Inlaid Library where the boss cannot kite you. Pair with Iron Blue Will and Slash arcanas for the highest DPS in the game on a single target.
Crossinto
Heaven SwordBoomerang pattern with crits. Heaven Sword is the strongest single-target evolved weapon according to community testing. The wiki documents 580K to 2.2M DPS depending on Arcana setup.
XP farming is a separate build entirely from combat runs. You want a weapon that clears the screen on a long timer (so non-killed enemies pile up XP) plus a vacuum effect that pulls gems into you without movement. Per the wiki, only one weapon does both natively.
For pure XP grinding
Pentagraminto
Gorgeous MoonPeriodic screen-wide kill plus an XP gem vacuum. Christine Davain can hit level 30,000 by minute 30 with this weapon. See our Gorgeous Moon guide for the Crown evolution path. Note: Gorgeous Moon kills do not trigger standard kill bonuses, so seal it on combat runs.
King Bibleinto
Unholy VespersIf you want XP gain while still completing achievements that require kill counts, Unholy Vespers handles consistent kills without removing the kill credit the way Pentagram does.
Some weapons exist to unlock other things rather than win runs. Bracelet, Pako Battiliar, and Victory Sword are weak weapons that gate strong characters or evolutions. If you are working through the Unlocks menu, this is which weapons to pick on purpose.
For unlock progression
BracelettoBi-BracelettoTri-BraceletThree-stage evolution. The base weapon is rough but Tri-Bracelet is genuinely A-tier per our rankings, and the path unlocks several side achievements. Read the full Bracelet guide.
Pako BattiliarDefeat 161,616 bats to unlock. Mazo Familiar is the evolution. See our Pako Battiliar guide for the bat-grinding farm route.
Victory SwordQueen Sigma's starting weapon. Required for the Sole Solution evolution which gates several Endless achievements. Full guide: Victory Sword.

Every evolved weapon needs the base at level 8, the matching passive item (any level), and a Treasure Chest from minute 10 onwards. Some unions skip the passive and only need both base weapons at level 8.
| Base weapon | Passive needed | Becomes |
|---|---|---|
Whip | Hollow Heart | Bloody Tear |
King Bible | Spellbinder | Unholy Vespers |
Santa Water | Attractorb | La Borra |
Garlic | Pummarola | Soul Eater |
Lightning Ring | Duplicator | Thunder Loop |
Cross | Clover | Heaven Sword |
Knife | Bracer | Thousand Edge |
Magic Wand | Empty Tome | Holy Wand |
Axe | Candelabrador | Death Spiral |
Fire Wand | Spinach | Hellfire |
Runetracer | Armor | NO FUTURE |
Pentagram | Crown (max) | Gorgeous Moon |
Clock Lancet | Silver + Gold Ring (max) | Infinite Corridor |
Laurel | Metaglio Left + Right (max) | Crimson Shroud |
Song of Mana | Skull O Maniac | Mannajja |
Shadow Pinion | Wings | Valkyrie Turner |
Gaze of Gaea | Stone Mask | Embrace of Gaea |
Peachone | Union with Ebony Wings | Vandalier |
Phiera Der Tuphello | Union with Eight The Sparrow | Phieraggi |
Vento Sacro | Union with Bloody Tear | Fuwalafuwaloo |
Cross, then Pentagram, then Garlic. Cross unlocks via Rosary and opens the Heaven Sword path which our tier list rates as one of the best single-target evolutions. Pentagram unlocks at minute 20 and gates Gorgeous Moon for XP farming. Garlic is automatic on first run.
No, and our tier list explains why. Holy Wand is the most universal pick because it auto-targets and ignores cooldown, but it underperforms on bosses compared to Heaven Sword and underperforms in Endless compared to the Infinite Corridor combo. Pick the weapon for the goal, not the goal for the weapon.
Pick Whip into Bloody Tear with Hollow Heart for the lifesteal, then add King Bible into Unholy Vespers, then Laurel into Crimson Shroud. Antonio is built for the Whip path which makes Fuwalafuwaloo (the Whip + Vento Sacro union) reachable on later runs.
Plan the evolution before picking the base. Taking King Bible without Spellbinder in your build means you will never evolve it. If the level-up screen offers a base weapon and you do not have its passive item yet, skip it and reroll if you have rerolls available.
No. The classic Infinite Corridor + Crimson Shroud combo carries Endless past minute 30 without any DLC weapons. Ode to Castlevania adds strong picks like Heaven Sword (technically a Cross evolution but the DLC unlock route makes it more accessible) but they are not required.
Six weapons and six passives is the cap on the level-up screen. Some characters break it: Pugnala Provola starts with two weapons, Cosmo Pavone has hidden Peachone and Ebony Wings on top of her visible six, and stage-spawned weapons (like the ones on Bone Zone) bypass the cap.
Use the directory on this page. Every weapon guide is grouped by category. For ranked picks across the full roster, see our weapon tier list which covers every base game and DLC weapon.
Save two slots for passives. Filling all six weapon slots leaves no room for the passive items that gate evolutions. Run four weapons plus two passives until evolutions trigger, then swap the passive slots into your fifth and sixth weapon picks.
