C-U-Laser Vampire Survivors

C-U-Laser icon, a weapon in Vampire Survivors
Patch v1.13 / Operation Guns DLC weapon

Lucia Zero's wall-piercing laser starter from the Operation Guns DLC.

Base damage: 10Max level: 8Evolves: Pronto Beam

C-U-Laser is one of the few weapons in Vampire Survivors patch v1.13 that pierces walls. The wiki effects block lists "Blocked by walls: No" outright, which means stages with brick maze geometry stop being a defensive headache and start being a kill funnel.

The other thing that sets it apart: Duration scales the laser length AND the total damage at the same time. Most weapons pick one or the other.

It comes free with Lucia Zero, the Lucia Zero iconSpread Shot evolution unlock from the Operation Guns DLC. The evolution path goes through two passives instead of one. That gating matters for run planning.

This guide covers stats, the Pronto Beam evolution, the best Lucia Zero build, and how it stacks against the other Operation Guns starters.

How C-U-Laser works in Operation Guns

C-U-Laser fires a horizontal line of piercing laser beams in the direction Lucia Zero is facing. The beams travel through enemies and through walls. The wiki notes the firing pattern is a faced-direction line with a 3.5 second cooldown at base.

Each level adds Damage, Speed, Amount, and Duration. The unusual scaling: Duration extends the visible laser length AND increases total damage in one stat. Stacking Empty Tome cooldown reduction with Spinach for Might gives both stats real returns.

In actual play, the wall-piercing matters most on Hectic Highway, Cappella Magna, and Moongolow, all stages with line-of-sight obstacles. On open maps like Inlaid Library or the early Mad Forest, the wall-piercing is wasted text, and the laser plays as a directional beam that asks you to face the right way.

Build Tip

Bracer pumps projectile speed, which in laser terms means the beam reaches max length faster. Stack it early when arenas open up.

How to evolve C-U-Laser into Pronto Beam

The Pronto Beam evolution requires two passives, not one. That puts it in a small group of Operation Guns weapons with a double-passive gate. The Long Gun iconLong Gun evolution only needs one passive, so the gating burden here is heavier than most.

Tirajisu has a max level of 2. It is one of only two passives in v1.13 that cap at level 2 (Duplicator is the other). You do not need to max it for the evolution to trigger, but you do need it equipped at minute 10 with C-U-Laser at level 8.

Build Tip

Weapon Power-Up is a stage item on Neo Galuga (up to 4 spawn). Pick those up before chasing Tirajisu so the evolution gate does not lock you out at minute 10.

Best C-U-Laser build for Lucia Zero

This build is the cleanest expression of C-U-Laser: take Lucia Zero, stack the two evolution passives early, then layer offensive support. The wall-piercing carries the early game and Pronto Beam handles the wave-clear from minute 10 onward.

Best characters and arcanas for C-U-Laser

Two arcanas matter for this weapon. Twilight Requiem (II) detonates an explosion at the starting point of every projectile, and the wiki specifies the explosion damage scales with Curse. On C-U-Laser that means each laser pulse drops a Curse-scaled blast at Lucia Zero's position, which converts the directional limitation into omnidirectional pressure. Jail of Crystal (XIV) gives a 25% chance to freeze critically hit enemies, and freeze procs feed into the Tirajisu chain through Vampire Killer iconVampire Killer-adjacent build patterns if you take a second weapon.

Lucia Zero's unique trait is what makes this build sing in real runs. Her stat block reads "Gain a bonus to all stats after Reviving" and Weapon Power-Up grants +1 Revival per stack. Stacking 2 to 4 Weapon Power-Ups during the run, then taking on-purpose deaths, multiplies her stat bonus per Revive. The wiki effects block confirms Weapon Power-Up persists its bonuses after consumption, so this is a real loop, not a meme.

C-U-Laser vs Long Gun

The Operation Guns DLC ships with several starters that share design DNA. C-U-Laser is the only wall-piercing one. The trade-off: it points one direction at a time, which means stages with wraparound spawns punish bad facing.

Long Gun has a single-passive evolution gate (Bracer) and rear-fires, which is a cleaner pairing for kiting builds. The trade in our testing: Long Gun has tighter projectile geometry but loses the wall ignore. C-U-Laser wins when terrain is the problem. Long Gun wins when reflex aim and back-line coverage are the problem. Pick C-U-Laser when you plan a Hectic Highway run.

Common mistakes with C-U-Laser

  1. Skipping Weapon Power-Up because it does not occupy a slot. It is the evolution gate and a stat-boost trigger for Lucia Zero. Take every Weapon Power-Up that spawns on the stage.
  2. Treating Tirajisu like a 6 to 8 level passive. It caps at Lv 2 (Duplicator is the only other Lv 2 passive in v1.13). Once you hit Lv 2 the level-up offer disappears, so do not panic-skip it.
  3. Ignoring Duration in favor of Might. Duration scales beam length AND total damage. It is the most efficient single-stat investment for this weapon.
  4. Using C-U-Laser on open arena maps. The wall-piercing is the headline mechanic. On Inlaid Library or Mad Forest it does nothing. Pick a different starter for open stages.
  5. Burning Revivals for free. Lucia Zero gets a stat bonus after Reviving, which means a planned death is a damage spike. Do not waste Revivals before stacking Weapon Power-Ups.

C-U-Laser trivia and Operation Guns context

Operation Guns is the fourth DLC for Vampire Survivors, released 9 May 2024 and themed on Konami's Contra series. C-U-Laser is the homage to Contra's Laser Gun (the L power-up), and the "C-U" in the name reads as both Contra-U and the See-You wordplay that runs through the DLC's naming.

Lucia Zero is a reference to Lucia from Devil May Cry 2. Her in-game cheat code is "amitheoriginal", which references the DMC2 plot beat where Lucia is revealed to be a clone of the original Lucia. The "Zero" suffix and her Blue Gale theme line up with the Operation Guns convention of giving each character a coded version number.

C-U-Laser FAQ

What does C-U-Laser do in Vampire Survivors?

C-U-Laser fires a horizontal line of piercing laser beams in the direction Lucia Zero is facing. It pierces walls, scales on Might, Area, Speed, Amount, and Duration, and evolves into Pronto Beam at level 8 with Weapon Power-Up and Tirajisu equipped.

How do you evolve C-U-Laser into Pronto Beam?

Level C-U-Laser to 8, equip Weapon Power-Up (a stage pickup on Neo Galuga, up to 4 spawn) and Tirajisu (a Lv 2 cap passive), then open a chest after minute 10. The evolution to Pronto Beam triggers automatically.

Is C-U-Laser good in patch v1.13?

It is a strong B-tier weapon with situational A-tier upside on stages where wall-piercing matters. Pronto Beam scales hard with Curse-arcana setups. Check the weapon tier list for the full ranking.

What character starts with C-U-Laser?

Lucia Zero starts with C-U-Laser. She is unlocked by evolving Spread Shot and costs 500 gold from the character select screen.

Why does Tirajisu only have 2 levels?

Tirajisu is one of only two passives in v1.13 with a max level of 2 (Duplicator is the other). The wiki notes this is by design: it is meant as an evolution gate, not a stacking damage stat.

Does C-U-Laser actually pierce walls?

Yes. The wiki effects block lists the weapon under Blocked by walls: No. Beams pass through brick geometry on Cappella Magna, Hectic Highway, and Moongolow, which is the weapon's defining mechanical advantage.

C-U-Laser vs Long Gun, which is better?

Long Gun has a single-passive evolution gate and rear-fires, which is friendlier for general use. C-U-Laser wins on stages with walls. Pick the laser for Hectic Highway specifically.

How do I unlock Lucia Zero?

Evolve Spread Shot once. Lucia Zero unlocks for purchase at 500 gold. The cheat code amitheoriginal references the Devil May Cry 2 character she is named after.
