Shamura Cult of the Lamb Guide

Shamura, the spider Bishop of the Old Faith who rules the Silk Cradle
Bishops of the Old Faith / Silk Cradle

The eldest Bishop and the last of the four, a War spider with the highest health in the game and constant spider adds.

Region: Silk CradleHealth: 225 (Normal)Phases: 2

Shamura is the only Bishop whose attacks never change, and that consistency is exactly what makes the fight a marathon. The eldest sibling stays glued to the Lamb, slashing and leaping while spiders pour from nests around the arena.

They are the oldest of the four Bishops of the Old Faith and the ruler of the Silk Cradle. Per the wiki, Shamura is the War cult leader, the fourth and final Bishop, and the holder of the largest health pool of any boss in the standard run.

The wiki frames their whole arc as a countdown. Shamura speaks the line "Five becomes four becomes three becomes two becomes one becomes nothing," a reference to the siblings being picked off one by one until only the Lamb and The One Who Waits remain.

This guide covers who Shamura is, the Silk Cradle arena, their unchanging two-phase moveset, the spider-nest mechanic, and where they close out the run before The One Who Waits.

  • The threat Shamura icon An aggressive spider who stays glued to the Lamb while spiders spawn from nests.
  • Where Purple Crown icon Silk Cradle, the fourth and final Crusade region.
  • The one rule Crusader weapon icon Outlast, do not rush. The moveset never escalates, so steady damage beats panic with the biggest health bar in the game.
  • What they are The One Who Waits icon The eldest Bishop, the last sibling before the Lamb faces The One Who Waits.

Who Shamura Is

Shamura is the oldest of the four Bishops of the Old Faith and the ruler of the Silk Cradle. Per the wiki they are a spider, the War cult leader, and they wear the Purple Crown icon Purple Crown.

Their theme is war. According to the wiki Shamura represents the Horseman of War, forcing the followers of the Lamb to fight them, and the achievement for beating them without taking damage is fittingly called "Peace." Their bandaged head plays on the phrase "Think No Evil," which is also the name of their defeat achievement.

They carry the weight of the whole story. As the eldest sibling, Shamura led the others who chained The One Who Waits icon The One Who Waits and cast out the Red Crown. The wiki gives them the line "Five becomes four becomes three becomes two becomes one becomes nothing," spoken as the siblings fall.

Silk Cradle Encounter

Shamura waits at the end of the Silk Cradle, the fourth Crusade region and the last of the Bishop fights. You reach them after Leshy, Heket, and Kallamar, and they guard the final crown the Lamb needs.

Their health is the biggest in the game. The wiki specifies 112.5 on Easy, 225 on Normal, 281.25 on Hard, and 337.5 on Extra Hard. Combined with constant spider adds, that pool turns the fight into an endurance test rather than a burst check.

DifficultyShamura health
Easy112.5
Normal225
Hard281.25
Extra Hard337.5

Bring sustain and a weapon you can swing on the move. In practice, the Silk Cradle is where a healing Tarot or a defensive Fleece matters most, because you will be in the fight far longer than against any earlier Bishop.

Two-Phase Moveset

Shamura is the only boss in the game whose moveset does not change between phases. According to the wiki they keep the exact same attacks in both the Initial and the Desperate phases, which makes the fight about consistency rather than new surprises.

Their core attacks are a Close Range Slash, a Jump Action, and Fire Projectiles, and they stay close to the Lamb instead of standing off like Kallamar. Spiders are the constant background threat; one of Shamura's attacks forces a spider nest to open, feeding a steady stream of adds.

Initial Phase

Shamura opens aggressively, mixing Close Range Slashes and Jump Actions with Fire Projectiles while spiders trickle in from the nests. The pressure is constant from the first second because they refuse to give the Lamb breathing room.

Desperate Phase

The wiki says only two things change in the Desperate phase, and neither adds a new attack. The delay between attacks tightens from 0.5 to 1 second down to 0.3 to 0.5 seconds, so Close Range Slash and Jump Action come out more often. The Fire Projectiles attack also launches more projectiles, and Shamura does a guaranteed Jump Action while shooting projectiles right after roaring.

Build Tip

Do not clear every spider nest on purpose. The wiki warns that there is a limited number of spiders, and if every nest is emptied, Shamura's AI can break and get stuck in an animation because one of their attacks expects a nest to open. Thin the spiders, but let the fight resolve on Shamura, not on the nests.

How to Beat Shamura

Beat Shamura by managing spiders and trading steady, low-risk damage. The moveset never escalates, so the fight rewards a calm, repeatable rhythm over the entire long health bar rather than any single big-damage window.

WeaponCrusader weapon icon A fast, mobile weapon (you swing while repositioning around the adds)
CurseCurse icon An add-clearing Curse (thin the spiders without chasing them)
PriorityShamura icon Spacing over spiders (keep moving so the Jump Action and slashes miss)
LoadoutPurple Crown icon Sustain (a healing Tarot or defensive Fleece for the longest fight)

Per the wiki, Shamura stays glued to the Lamb, so the danger is the Close Range Slash and Jump Action landing while you are distracted by spiders. Keep circling, let the spiders chase your trail, and punish Shamura between their melee commitments.

The Desperate phase only speeds things up; it never changes the read. After a few runs the fight clicks: you already know every attack from phase one, so the Desperate phase is the same dance at a faster tempo, and patience closes out the biggest health bar in the game.

Where Shamura Fits Among the Bishops

Shamura is the fourth and final Bishop, the eldest sibling, and the last fight before the Lamb turns on The One Who Waits. The wiki gives them the highest health of the four and the most aggressive, glued-on fighting style.

They close a difficulty arc the others built. Green Crown icon Leshy opens it in Darkwood, Yellow Crown icon Heket raises it in Anura, and Blue Crown icon Kallamar spikes it in Anchordeep as the hardest single fight.

Each Bishop guards a colored crown, and the Red Crown icon Red Crown the Lamb wears is the heresy they cast out together. With Shamura down, only the imprisoned god remains. See the full Bishops of the Old Faith order for the complete climb.

Common Mistakes

  1. Rushing the health bar. Shamura has the most health in the game and a moveset that never escalates. Trying to burst them down gets you clipped; steady, safe trades close the fight far more reliably.
  2. Tunneling the spiders. Per the wiki the spiders are a constant, so chasing every one pulls you out of position. Thin them with an add-clearing Curse and keep your focus on Shamura's melee tells.
  3. Emptying every spider nest. The wiki warns this can break Shamura's AI mid-fight because one attack expects a nest to open. It also wastes time. Thin the adds, do not farm the nests to zero.
  4. Standing still to trade. Shamura stays glued to you with Close Range Slash and Jump Action. Holding ground lets both land. Keep circling so their commitments whiff and you punish the recovery.
  5. Bringing no sustain. This is the longest Bishop fight. A healing Tarot or defensive Fleece outvalues another raw damage pick when you are in the arena this long.
