Kallamar Cult of the Lamb Guide

Kallamar, the squid Bishop of the Old Faith who rules Anchordeep
Bishops of the Old Faith / Anchordeep

The third Bishop and the hardest boss in the game, a cowardly squid who fights with four weapons at once.

Region: AnchordeepHealth: 200 (Normal)Weapons: 4

Kallamar fights you with four weapons at once, and the gap between his cowardice and his output is the trap. He spends every cutscene begging to be spared, then opens the boss fight with the deepest attack pool of any Bishop in the game.

He is the second eldest of the four Bishops of the Old Faith and the ruler of Anchordeep. The wiki calls him "the single most challenging and complex boss in the game," noting he does this "in direct contrast to his complete unwillingness to face the Lamb."

His kit is built around four weapons, the Sword, the Dagger, the Staff, and the Globus Cruciger, each with at least one attack. Per the wiki that adds up to as many as seven possible attacks in the later parts of the fight, across two phases.

This guide covers who Kallamar is, his Anchordeep arena, the four-weapon kit and its two phases, how to read his ranged spam, and where he sits among Leshy, Heket, Shamura, and The One Who Waits.

  • The threat Kallamar icon A four-weapon squid, the hardest boss in the game by the wiki's own ranking.
  • Where Blue Crown icon Anchordeep, the third Crusade region, ending at the Anchordeep Temple.
  • The one rule Crusader weapon icon Respect the range. He keeps his distance and layers Staff and Globus attacks, so dodge first and punish second.
  • What he is The One Who Waits icon The cowardly Bishop, who begs to be spared from The One Who Waits before fighting his hardest.

Who Kallamar Is

Kallamar is the second eldest of the four Bishops of the Old Faith and the ruler of Anchordeep. Per the wiki he is a squid who wears the Blue Crown icon Blue Crown and guards his temple beneath the water.

He is a coward. According to the wiki he pleads with the Lamb to spare him and tries to pin the blame on his siblings: "It was not my idea to cast out the Red Crown. The other Bishops, my siblings, the blame lies with them. Kill Shamura, but do not send me to my death. Do not send me to him." The "him" is The One Who Waits icon The One Who Waits, the brother they imprisoned.

His Eldritch form drops the act. The wiki describes long tentacles spreading along his neck and body, a shift to cyan and blue, and two pairs of arms as he hovers above the ground, "wielding four different weapons, one in each hand, a staff, a sword, a dagger, and a globus cruciger." That four-armed form is what makes his kit so dense.

Anchordeep Encounter

Kallamar waits at the end of Anchordeep, the third Crusade region, in the arena at the Anchordeep Temple he swore the Lamb would never reach. He is the third Bishop you face, after Leshy and Heket, and the difficulty jump is steep.

His health backs up the wiki's "hardest boss" billing. It specifies 100 on Easy, 200 on Normal, 250 on Hard, and 300 on Extra Hard, the largest pool of any Bishop except Shamura. Pair that with seven possible attacks and the fight punishes any lapse in focus.

DifficultyKallamar health
Easy100
Normal200
Hard250
Extra Hard300

Bring your strongest weapon and a Curse that helps you survive, not just deal damage. In practice, this is the fight where a defensive Fleece or a healing Tarot earns its slot more than a pure damage pick.

Four-Weapon Moveset

Kallamar attacks with four weapons across two phases, the Initial Phase and the Desperation Phase. According to the wiki each weapon has at least one attack, and the count climbs "up to a staggering total of 7 possible attacks in the later parts of the fight."

The four weapons split his pressure across every range band, so there is rarely a safe distance for long.

  • The Sword. His close-range option for when the Lamb gets aggressive. Treat a Sword tell as the cue to create space, not to keep swinging.
  • The Dagger. A faster, shorter-commitment strike that covers the gaps between his heavier attacks.
  • The Staff. His ranged magic, the reason he is comfortable keeping his distance and forcing you to chase.
  • The Globus Cruciger. The Holy Hand Grenade, a lobbed explosive that controls space and discourages camping any one spot.

The wiki splits each weapon's attacks across both phases, with the Desperation Phase adding to the pool rather than replacing it. That is why the later fight reaches seven attacks; the Initial Phase tools never leave, they stack with new ones.

Build Tip

Learn the tells, not the order. Unlike Leshy, Kallamar does not lock into a fixed sequence; he mixes four weapons freely. The win condition is recognizing each weapon's wind-up on sight so you dodge the right way before the attack resolves.

How to Beat Kallamar

Beat Kallamar by surviving his ranged layers first and taking small, safe punishes second. He has the deepest kit in the game, so the players who lose are the ones who try to out-damage him instead of out-lasting him.

WeaponCrusader weapon icon Your highest-damage weapon (his health pool is huge, so make every punish count)
CurseCurse icon A survivable ranged Curse (chip him from outside his weapon range)
PriorityKallamar icon Dodge first (read the weapon tell before you commit to a punish)
LoadoutBlue Crown icon Healing over greed (a defensive Fleece or Tarot beats a glass-cannon setup here)

Per the wiki, his unwillingness to close the gap is the tell that defines the fight. He wants to stand off and rain Staff and Globus attacks, so the safest play is to weave through his projectiles and only step in when a Sword or Dagger swing leaves him recovering.

Patience wins. Across multiple runs the lesson is the same: trying to burst his 200 health on Normal gets you clipped by a seven-attack mix, while picking off two or three safe hits per opening grinds him down without ever putting the Lamb in danger.

Where Kallamar Fits Among the Bishops

Kallamar is the third of four Bishops and the difficulty peak of the standard run for most players. The wiki names him the hardest boss in the game, a notch above even the eldest sibling who follows him.

He sits between the early Bishops and the last. Green Crown icon Leshy and Yellow Crown icon Heket are the gentler openers in Darkwood and Anura. Purple Crown icon Shamura, the eldest, closes the set in the Silk Cradle with the highest health of all.

Every Bishop guards a colored crown, and the Red Crown icon Red Crown the Lamb wears is the heresy they cast out together. Kallamar would rather you skip him entirely, but he is the gate to the Silk Cradle. See the full Bishops of the Old Faith order for the whole climb.

Common Mistakes

  1. Trying to out-damage him. Per the wiki he has the deepest attack pool and a large health bar. Greedy combos get punished by his seven-attack mix. Take two or three safe hits per opening instead.
  2. Chasing him to close the gap. Kallamar wants distance so he can spam Staff and Globus attacks. Running straight at him walks you into his lobbed grenade. Weave through projectiles and wait for a melee whiff.
  3. Memorizing a sequence. Unlike Leshy, he mixes weapons freely with no fixed order. Learn each weapon's wind-up so you react to the tell rather than guessing the next move.
  4. Bringing a glass-cannon loadout. This is the fight where survivability matters most. A defensive Fleece or a healing Tarot keeps you alive through a long fight far better than another damage trinket.
  5. Underestimating the Desperation phase. The wiki notes Desperation adds attacks rather than replacing them. The pressure only grows as his health drops, so do not get loose once he is low.
