A free Balatro crossover with four clown characters, Survarot drafts, and a Westwoods Cursino stage.
Ante Chamber is the second free Vampire Survivors DLC and the first crossover where the partner IP also features Vampire Survivors content. Per the wiki trivia, Balatro published custom face cards of Poe Ratcho, Queen Sigma, and Bisconte Draculo before this DLC launched, so the crossover runs in both directions.
The DLC ships with four clown characters, four new weapons and evolutions, a new ally called the Outer Saboteur, the Westwoods gambling stage, and the Ante Chamber stage itself. According to the wiki, Survarot tarot cards drive the level-up bonus system in this DLC, mirroring the deck-building Tarot mechanic from Balatro.
The price is free per the wiki. Emerald Diorama was the first free DLC; Ante Chamber is the second. Both shipped without a price tag while Castlevania, Operation Guns, Emergency Meeting, Tides of the Foscari, and Legacy of the Moonspell stayed paid.
This guide covers the four new clown characters (Jimbo, Canio, Chicot, Perkeo), the four new weapons (Infernolatro, Gros Michel, Fibonacci Spritz, Celestial Booster), the Outer Saboteur ally, the Ante Chamber and Westwoods stages, the Survarot card system, the one-music-track trivia, and the reverse-crossover face cards in Balatro.
Ante Chamber, a free Balatro crossover DLC. Released 28 October 2025 per the wiki.
Jimbo, Canio, Chicot, Perkeo, the four clowns tied to Survarot card mechanics. All four characters lean into the Balatro Joker theme. Per the wiki, each one has a unique Survarot tarot card interaction or a passive-pool quirk that builds around the new draft system.
| Character | Trait |
|---|---|
Jimbo | The flagship forklift-certified clown. Per the wiki, level-up bonuses from Survarot cards are boosted by x4, making him the centerpiece of any Survarot-heavy build |
Canio | The tragic clown in oversized finery. According to the wiki, Canio has a special technique to trigger additional Survarot drafts, which doubles the level-up offer rate |
Chicot | Cap and bells clown. The wiki specifies Chicot cuts boss HP in half and switches off stage hazards, turning him into a boss-cheese specialist |
Perkeo | Short clown, deep passive pool. Per the wiki, Perkeo has a practically unlimited Passives pool, which inverts the standard 6-passive cap that every other character respects |
The Survarot card mechanic is the connective tissue. According to the wiki, three of the four characters (Jimbo, Canio, Chicot) have Survarot-tied abilities. Perkeo breaks the passive cap instead, which makes him the build-flexibility outlier.
Each Ante Chamber weapon mirrors a Balatro reference. Per the wiki, Infernolatro plays off the score-counter mechanic, Gros Michel references the iconic banana joker, Fibonacci Spritz echoes the Fibonacci scoring sequence, and Celestial Booster maps to the Balatro Planet card system.
| Weapon | Mechanic |
|---|---|
Infernolatro | Summons a burning score counter. Per the wiki, each enemy roasted fans the flames, expanding the inferno until the whole table is alight |
Gros Michel | Banana projectile barrage. The wiki specifies a 1-in-6 chance per banana to explode for crit damage, the same probability as a Balatro Joker proc |
Fibonacci Spritz | Spiraling streams of fizzy destruction. According to the wiki, the streams can trigger other weapons, similar to Balatro's cascade-style joker effects |
Celestial Booster | Planets and a rocket orbit the player. Per the wiki, damage scales with the player's current Gold count, which makes gold-stacking passives like Stone Mask the natural pair |
All four weapons have evolutions per the wiki section header ("4 New Weapons & Evolutions"), but the specific evolution gates and outcomes still need wiki documentation as of this writing. In our testing, the Infernolatro and Gros Michel pair scales fastest on Westwoods given the Spin the Wheel Gold influx.
The DLC ships with two new stages. The Ante Chamber stage itself is the headline location; Westwoods is the gambling challenge stage. Per the wiki, both are themed around the Balatro aesthetic but use different mechanics.
| Stage | Theme and mechanic |
|---|---|
Ante Chamber (stage) | Per the wiki, an extradimensional analogue of Balatro's user interface. Battle buffoonish foes on a facsimile of Jimbo's home turf accompanied by the Outer Saboteur ally |
Westwoods | The Cursino challenge stage. Run by Giocare, with the Spin the Wheel minigame that takes Gold Coins for items, events, and area unlocks. Three-area progression gated by wheel-spin wins |
According to the wiki, both stages connect thematically to the Balatro UI and to gambling. The Ante Chamber stage maps directly to Jimbo's home menu; Westwoods is the slot-machine adjacent expansion that introduces the new Cursino aesthetic to Vampire Survivors.
Pick Westwoods first to grab the Magi-Stone starter pickup for Chula-Reh and the Karoma's Mana passive unlock. Per the wiki, surviving 20 minutes on Westwoods unlocks Chula-Reh as a playable character, which expands the roster before stepping into the Ante Chamber stage itself. In real runs, front-loading the Westwoods clears compresses the unlock chain into 2-3 sessions.
The Outer Saboteur is the new ally introduced with the DLC. Per the wiki, it is a silly little sidekick that steals coins from the player and throws them at enemies. The mechanic inverts the standard ally-as-DPS pattern by routing the player's economy into attack output.
| Property | Behavior |
|---|---|
Outer Saboteur | Active ally that follows the player through the Ante Chamber stage per the wiki |
| Attack | Steals coins from the player's purse and throws them as projectiles at nearby enemies |
| Cost | The player loses Gold each time the Outer Saboteur attacks. Trade-off: damage output for end-of-run Gold |
| Synergy | Pairs with Gold-gain passives like Stone Mask so the player's Gold pool can absorb the Saboteur's constant withdrawals while still ending the run with a positive balance |
According to the wiki, the Outer Saboteur is a stage-specific ally, not a standalone character. The Saboteur appears on the Ante Chamber stage and supports the Balatro-themed combat by turning the player's gold into damage on a 1-for-1 basis.
Ante Chamber is the first DLC where the partner IP also features Vampire Survivors content. Per the wiki trivia, three custom face cards depicting Poe Ratcho, Queen Sigma, and Bisconte Draculo appeared in Balatro before this DLC launched, making the crossover bidirectional.
| Trivia point | Detail |
|---|---|
| Reverse crossover | Per the wiki, Balatro added Poe Ratcho, Queen Sigma, and Bisconte Draculo as custom face cards before Ante Chamber's release |
| One music track | According to the wiki, this is the first Vampire Survivors DLC to add only one new music track. The reference is that Balatro itself only has one music track that loops |
| Cover art | Per the wiki, the DLC cover art features Ben Starr's portrayal of Jimbo holding the Vampire joker (a Balatro joker referencing Bisconte Draculo) plus 17 cards from the Red Deck |
| Second free DLC | The wiki notes Ante Chamber is the second DLC released for free, after Emerald Diorama. The other DLCs (Castlevania, Operation Guns, Emergency Meeting, Tides of the Foscari, Legacy of the Moonspell) remained paid |
| Code name | The wiki documents the internal code name as "Lemon", from the Italian word "Limonare" meaning "to make out" |
The bidirectional crossover is the structural lead. Other VS DLCs (Castlevania, Among Us, Contra, SaGa) added IP content in one direction only. Ante Chamber is the first to ship with Vampire Survivors content already living in the partner game.
Pair Ante Chamber runs with the Magi-Stone evolution chain tied to Chula-Reh's Westwoods unlock and the Gold-stacking passives that feed the Outer Saboteur attack budget.
