The pirate sea louse who blames you for killing the Bishops, then pays Holy Talisman fragments for the eyes of the beasts that replaced them.
Plimbo is the one character who is furious that you are killing Bishops, and he turns that grudge into the best deal in the game. The sea louse smuggler runs a black-market stall at Anchordeep, and every Bishop you slay opens a job he will pay for in Holy Talisman fragments.
His hook is the Eye of the Witness. According to the wiki, each fallen Bishop is replaced by a Witness beast, and Plimbo buys their eyes one at a time.
Turn in enough eyes and the pirate bends the knee. The wiki notes that handing Plimbo his fourth Eye of the Witness recruits him as a follower, a rare NPC who joins through trade rather than a ritual.
This guide covers who Plimbo is, what he sells at Smuggler's Sanctuary, how the Eye of the Witness quest works, and how to turn all eight eyes into Holy Talisman fragments.
A sea louse smuggler who sells tarot cards and decorations at Anchordeep.
Bring him Eyes of the Witness, dropped by the beasts that replace slain Bishops.
One Holy Talisman fragment per eye, up to eight fragments across the whole game.
Deliver four eyes and Plimbo joins your cult as a follower.Plimbo is a smuggler and sailor who works the waterways of the Old Faith. Per the wiki he is a tall sea louse with a pirate's accent and a braying "ah ah ah" laugh, always steering the conversation back to his stock of "legally acquired goods."
He is not a fan of the Lamb's crusade. According to the wiki, Plimbo blames you for the monsters sinking his ships, since killing the
Bishops let dangerous beasts loose on the trade routes he depends on.
His personal life is a running joke. The wiki records his divorce and his constant jabs at his ex-mother-in-law, plus an ancestor named Plimbo the First, all delivered in the same salty patter. For the wider cast, see the full
Cult of the Lamb characters roster.
Plimbo runs a shop at Smuggler's Sanctuary, reachable from
Anchordeep. Per the wiki he stocks tarot cards and Anchordeep's own decorations, the antiquities he keeps calling the finest in the lands of the Old Faith.
His goods lean cosmetic and utility. The
tarot cards give you run buffs, while the decorations are themed to the drowned Anchordeep region, useful for players building out a matching cult camp.
Do not expect a bargain once he joins. According to the wiki, even after Plimbo becomes a follower he keeps selling his wares with, in his words, "no discounts," so he is a merchant first and a convert a distant second.
The Eye of the Witness is Plimbo's whole questline, and it hinges on your kills. Per the wiki, every time you defeat a Bishop, a beast called a Witness takes its place in that Bishop's old lair, and Plimbo will pay for their eyes.
The loop is simple to run. The wiki states you return to a region where you killed a
Witness, defeat the
beast that has emerged, and carry its
Eye of the Witness back to Plimbo at Smuggler's Sanctuary.
He refuses to be converted until you finish the job. According to the wiki, Plimbo insists he serves no one but himself through the first three eyes, then relents on the fourth and pledges to follow you in exchange for keeping his waterways safe.
Save the Witness fights for when you want the fragments, not the moment you can. In practice the Eyes are gated behind boss rematches, so line them up with a strong crusade loadout rather than backtracking underpowered.
Every eye you sell Plimbo pays out in Holy Talisman fragments, the pieces that build toward the endgame. Per the wiki, each Eye of the Witness is worth exactly one
Holy Talisman fragment.
The count runs higher than most players expect. The wiki specifies four eyes in the main game, then four more in the endgame after the Bishops are defeated a second time and their Witnesses return, for a total of eight fragments from Plimbo alone.
Those fragments are not just currency. Collecting Holy Talisman pieces feeds directly into confronting
The One Who Waits, which makes Plimbo's grumpy side hustle one of the more meaningful trade loops in the game.
Main game Witnesses (four Holy Talisman fragments, plus recruitment)
Endgame Witnesses return (four more fragments)
Eight Holy Talisman fragments from Plimbo across the gamePlimbo is one of the only NPCs who resents your success. Per the wiki, he openly tells the Lamb "you owe me a ship" because your Bishop-slaying wrecked the trade routes the Old Faith kept safe.
His running gag never lets up. The wiki catalogs his repeated ex-mother-in-law jokes, comparing every hideous Witness he meets to her, punctuated by his signature laugh.
He even has a family tree. According to the wiki, Plimbo is descended from an ancestor named Plimbo the First, a small touch that turns a one-note pirate into a whole smuggling dynasty.
Plimbo's quest runs straight through the Bishops you kill and the Witnesses they leave behind. These guides cover those fights, his home region, and the cult you drag him into.
