The ritual that marries a follower for +30 Faith, unlocks daily Loyalty from kissing, and gets very jealous once you overdo it.
Marriage in Cult of the Lamb is a Faith engine that turns jealous the moment you get greedy. Each Wedding ritual hands you +30 Faith and unlocks a daily kiss that pumps Loyalty, but every extra spouse sulks when you marry someone new.
It lives in your teachings. According to the wiki, the Wedding is part of the Law and Order 2 Doctrines, where you choose between it and the Fight Pit ritual.
It scales until it does not. The wiki notes married followers lose you 5 Faith each out of jealousy per new wedding, so past a point the ritual costs more Faith than it gives.
This guide covers how the Wedding ritual works, the Loyalty from kissing, managing jealousy across many spouses, and how to unmarry a follower.
A ritual to marry a follower, for +30 Faith each.
A daily Kiss that adds +10 Loyalty to your spouse.
Existing spouses get jealous, losing 5 Faith each.
The Lovers II Tarot card, worth 2 blue hearts.Marriage is a ritual you unlock through your teachings. Per the wiki, the Wedding is a Law and Order 2
Doctrine ritual, chosen against the Fight Pit, and it costs 75 Bone with a three-day cooldown.
Each wedding pays out immediately. According to the wiki, marrying a
follower grants +30 Faith, and the married follower gets a ring icon by their name.
Your first wedding is a bonus. The wiki states the first time you marry anyone you receive the
The Lovers II Tarot card, which grants two extra
blue hearts on crusades.
Marriage is not just a one-time Faith bump. Per the wiki, a married follower gains a Kiss action you can perform once a day, adding +10 Loyalty to that spouse every time.
Enough kisses change them. According to the wiki, kissing a spouse enough earns them the Happily Married
trait, a permanent marker of a well-tended marriage.
It is a steady Loyalty source. Ten Loyalty per day per spouse adds up fast, so a few carefully tended marriages keep key
followers devoted with almost no effort.
Marry the followers you most want loyal. In practice the daily Kiss is a reliable +10 Loyalty, so wedding a hard-working or high-value follower keeps them content far more cheaply than repeated rituals.
The catch with marriage is jealousy. Per the wiki, every existing spouse loses you 5 Faith out of jealousy each time you perform a new Wedding, and once you have six or more spouses that loss outweighs the +30 the ritual gives.
Multiple spouses also feud. According to the wiki, marriage partners may constantly fight each other out of jealousy unless they have the
Polyamorous trait, which stops them getting jealous entirely.
There are clever ways around it. The wiki lists several: deceased or Polyamorous spouses never get jealous, resurrecting a spouse after the ritual keeps them calm, and marrying while the Brainwashing Ritual is active negates the jealousy penalty outright.
+30 Faith per wedding
-5 Faith per existing spouse (jealousy)
Around six spouses (jealousy outweighs the gain)You can undo a marriage. Per the wiki, since the Woolhaven update you unmarry a spouse by opening the Wedding ritual and selecting them again, which also removes their Happily Married trait.
Weddings unlock special clothing. According to the wiki, performing three Weddings unlocks the Wedding Dress and Wedding Suit, two Unique
outfits you craft at the Tailor for a single follower each.
Resurrection interacts with marriage too. The wiki notes that if a spouse dies,
resurrecting them after the marriage ritual keeps them from becoming jealous, and resurrected spouses do not need to be married again.
Marriage mirrors the darker rituals. Per the wiki, the choice between the Wedding and Fight Pit rituals parallels the Sin 2 choice between the Rite of Wrath and Rite of Lust, with marriage being the loving union to the Rite of Lust's carnal one.
It clashes with breeding. According to the wiki, married followers become poor mating partners, so it is not recommended to wed followers you plan to use in the
Mating Tent.
You picked Fight Pit first? You can still marry. The wiki notes that if you chose the Fight Pit ritual, you can unlock the Wedding ritual later with a Forgotten
Commandment Stone.
Marriage is one of the cult's biggest Faith and Loyalty levers. These guides cover the doctrines it lives in, the outfits it unlocks, and the loyal flock it helps you build.
