A caged, Weaver-made seer whose silken sight evolves Hornet's Crests and grants the Sylphsong Art.
Eva is the single most important upgrade NPC for combat in Silksong, and most players walk past her hidden chamber for hours without realizing it.
She lives in a sustaining iron cage in the southeast of Weavenest Atla. According to the wiki, she becomes reachable only once Hornet has the Needolin, which she answers from inside her cell.
Her gift is "clarity." Eva reads the soul imprints around her with a Weaver power called silken sight, and she uses it to evolve Hornet's Crests as your loadout grows.
This guide covers where to find Eva, how her upgrade thresholds work, the Sylphsong binding, her lore, and the mistakes that lock you out of her chamber.
A Weaver-made NPC who upgrades Crests.
Southeast Weavenest Atla, reached after the Needolin.
Crest evolutions and extra tool slots.
Sylphsong, silk that refills at benches.Eva is a being the Weavers made by hand, not born. Per the wiki, they spun her from rune and shell to defy a curse that made having children nearly impossible, and partly to mimic divinity.
She describes herself as "a child of Weavers, yet not quite their kin." Her iron cage is not a prison so much as life support, since the wiki states leaving it through normal means would kill her.
Her defining power is silken sight: she perceives creatures through their soul imprints rather than sight or sound, and at close range she can feel emotions and even help a nature grow. That is the in-fiction reason she can evolve Hornet's
Crests.
Eva sits in the southeast of Weavenest Atla, and her chamber only opens up after Hornet gains the Needolin. The wiki notes she answers the instrument from inside her cage, which is what reveals her.
The room is easy to miss because the approach is walled off by fragile silk wires that have to be broken to slip through. Weavenest Atla itself threads into the wider
cast of Pharloom, so you often pass nearby before you can actually reach her.
You can first meet Eva in Act 1, but the bulk of her upgrades land in Act 2 as your slot count climbs.
Eva grants upgrades based on how many tool and skill slots you have unlocked across all Crests except the Hunter Crest. The more non-Hunter slots you open, the further her track advances.
Memory Lockets matter here because they unlock extra slots beyond a Crest's starting ones, which pushes you toward her higher thresholds faster. Stacking
Memory Lockets is the cleanest way to reach her later upgrades early.
| Threshold | What Eva grants |
|---|---|
| First meeting | Hunter Crest evolution (more attack damage) |
| 12 slots | Vesticrest with a bonus Yellow Tool slot |
| 20 slots | Adds a Blue Tool slot to the Vesticrest |
| 27 slots | Second Hunter Crest evolution |
| 32 slots | Sylphsong, after Eva asks to be bound |
Hold off on the Hunter Crest evolutions if you mostly play other Crests. The thresholds count non-Hunter slots, so plan your tool unlocks around the Crests you actually use.
At 32 unlocked slots Eva asks to be bound to Hornet, the same way other ancestral spirits join her. Accepting grants the Sylphsong Art, and the wiki specifies it rapidly fills Hornet's silk spool whenever she rests at a bench.
The binding is optional, but it is one of the best quality-of-life upgrades in the game. Walking away from every bench with a full silk reserve means more healing and more Silk Skills in the fights that follow.
In actual play, taking the bind also rewards the Entwined achievement, so there is little reason to refuse once you have hit the threshold.
Eva refuses to deal with Hornet while she carries certain corruptions. The wiki notes she rings her chamber with protective runes if Hornet approaches afflicted by Plasmium, the forbidden blood, or by the Twisted Bud curse.
That makes her a soft gate on those questlines. If you are mid-way through the
Twisted Bud path, expect Eva to lock you out until the state is resolved.
It is a small detail, but it catches players who try to optimize her upgrades while chasing a cursed-crest ending at the same time.
Eva sits at the heart of Hornet's build progression. These guides cover the Crests, cast, and story her upgrades feed into.
