Pull levers for Luck-scaled rewards. Catch the Take Us Away train south. 20-minute timer.
The Laborratory is the only stage in Vampire Survivors where the four hidden ring items can spawn without the player owning the Yellow Sign. Per the wiki trivia, this makes it the only pre-Yellow-Sign path to an Infinite Corridor evolution build, which is the single biggest reason to farm it before unlocking the Cappella Magna chain.
The stage gimmick is the lever. According to the wiki, walking over a lever flips it and either spawns a pickup, weapon, passive item, or enemy swarm based on the room and the player's Luck stat. Levers respawn off-screen every 20 in-game seconds, with up to 5 per room and up to 12 along the southern railroad track where they spawn the Take Us Away train.
The Take Us Away train is the second-biggest mechanical novelty. The wiki specifies it damages any enemy it collides with along the railroad south of the stage, which turns the corridor into a free DPS conveyor belt for the player to kite enemies onto. No other base stage has a persistent moving damage source like this.
This guide covers the 33-Rosary unlock, the divineassault spell shortcut, the four lever room types (Central, Danger, Electricity, Railroad), the trap pizza map events, the ring item route that bypasses the Yellow Sign requirement, and the build that maximizes Luck for the best lever-roll odds.
Laborratory, the seventh challenge stage. Patch 1.10, released 30 April 2024.
Collect 33 Rosary pickups across any runs. Hyper mode unlocks by default once the stage opens.
Only stage with no-Yellow-Sign ring items. Silver Ring, Gold Ring, Metaglio Left, and Metaglio Right all spawn here per the wiki. The unlock is a Rosary collection target. Per the wiki, accumulating 33 Rosary pickups across any runs opens the Laborratory in stage selection. The Hyper mode unlocks by default the moment the base stage unlocks, which mirrors the Bone Zone's default-Hyper behavior.
| Method | What it requires | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 33 Rosary pickup target | Collect 33 Rosaries from any stages | The canonical route. Mad Forest, Inlaid Library, and Cappella Magna all spawn multiple Rosaries per run |
Cast divineassault | One Forbidden Scrolls cast per run | Skips the Rosary target. Requires the relic from defeating Sketamari in the Bone Zone first |
According to the wiki, the Cappella Magna run cluster is the fastest Rosary farm because three Rosaries spawn south of the starting area, one tileset apart from each other, and grabbing all three per run accelerates the 33-pickup target to roughly 11 runs at minimum efficiency.
Levers are the stage interaction. Per the wiki, walking over a lever flips it and rolls one of several outcomes: a pickup (Coin Bag, Vacuum, Rosary, Little Clover), a weapon, a passive item, or an enemy swarm. The outcome favorability and the lever spawn rate both scale with the player's Luck stat.
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Spawn cadence | One lever every 20 in-game seconds per room |
| Max levers in a single room | 5 (or 12 along the railroad) |
| Outcome scaling | Luck stat affects both spawn rate and favorability of the roll |
| Mad Groove (VIII) arcana | Does NOT pull levers per the wiki |
| Universal pickups | Coin Bag, Vacuum, Rosary, Little Clover (any room except railroad) |
Stack Luck before pulling levers. Per the wiki, Luck affects both lever spawn rate and the favorability of each roll, which means a Greed plus Clover plus Luck arcana build farms levers harder than any other base stat configuration. In actual play, hitting Luck +50% by minute 5 turns the lever room into a passive item pipeline.
Each room has its own lever loot pool. According to the wiki, the four distinct areas are the Central Room, the Danger Room, the Electricity Room, and the southern railroad. Knowing which room drops which item lets the player route between them based on what the current build needs.
| Room | Location | Lever outcomes |
|---|---|---|
| Central Room | North of the central area | Santa Javelin / Arma Dio, Metaglio Left or Metaglio Right, or Reaper Trainee / Trinacria / Fallen Cherubbello swarms |
| Danger Room | West of central, marked with danger signs | Cross or King Bible, Clover or Spellbinder, or Jellyfish / Dust Elemental / Musc Musc swarms |
| Electricity Room | East of central, marked with high voltage signs | Santa Water, Attractorb or Silver Ring or Gold Ring, or the same swarm types as the Danger Room |
| Railroad | South corridor with train tracks | Spawns the Take Us Away train rather than items. Up to 12 levers |
Per the wiki, the Electricity Room is the single highest-value lever room for build assembly because it drops Santa Water (a strong evolution-gate weapon), Attractorb (XP magnet), and two of the four ring items (Silver Ring, Gold Ring) needed for the Infinite Corridor evolution chain. The Central Room covers the other two rings (Metaglio Left, Metaglio Right).
The Take Us Away train is the only persistent moving damage source in a base game stage. Per the wiki, pulling a lever along the southern railroad summons a train that runs the track and damages every enemy it collides with on its path. The corridor becomes a free DPS line as long as the player kites enemies onto the rails.
| Property | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Trigger | Flip a railroad lever (south corridor) |
| Damage source | Train collision per the wiki |
| Max simultaneous levers | 12 along the railroad track |
| Best use | Kite enemy waves onto the rail just before a train spawn for free crowd clear |
| Limit | Train damages enemies only, not the player |
According to the wiki, the railroad area can hold up to 12 levers simultaneously, which is the destructible cap for the stage. In real runs, the southern route is the highest-throughput kite path because the player can stack 5 to 7 trains across a 30-second window if the lever cadence and Luck stat both stay favorable.
The Laborratory is the only stage where the four hidden ring items spawn without the player owning the Yellow Sign. Per the wiki trivia, this is the unique no-prerequisite Infinite Corridor evolution route and the main reason intermediate players run the stage repeatedly before unlocking Cappella Magna.
| Item | Where to find |
|---|---|
Silver Ring | Electricity Room lever (east of central) |
Gold Ring | Electricity Room lever (east of central) |
Metaglio Left | Central Room lever (north of central) |
Metaglio Right | Central Room lever (north of central) |
The wiki notes Clover and Attractorb also spawn from lever rooms, which makes the Laborratory the cleanest single-stage assembly route for an Infinite Corridor build: stack Luck early, route between the Central and Electricity rooms in 20-second lever cycles, and the four rings plus Empty Tome's level-up offer complete the evolution by minute 12.
Trap pizzas are the stage's downside mechanic. According to the wiki, they appear as circular plates on the ground inside rooms, in front of lever spawn points, or along corridor passageways. Stepping on one triggers an unavoidable map event chosen from 9 predetermined options, and the traps share a 15-second minimum cooldown before reactivating.
| Property | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Trigger | Step on the circular pizza plate |
| Possible events | 9 predetermined map events (Pile Assault waves, T-DCCC Gunner swarms, ConstableBot Gunner swarms, etc.) |
| Cooldown | 15 seconds before reactivation per the wiki |
| Spawn locations | Inside rooms, in front of levers, along corridors |
| Avoidance | Unavoidable once triggered. Map awareness is the only counter |
Per the wiki, the 15-second cooldown means a single trap can re-trigger multiple times during a long kite loop through the same corridor. In actual play, the Central and Danger Rooms have more trap pizzas than the Electricity Room, which is another reason the Electricity Room is the highest-value lever stop in the standard route.
Pair Laborratory lever pulls with the Luck-stack arcanas and the Infinite Corridor evolution chain that the lever ring drops assemble.
