"Increase damage to enemies within 13m by 20% (+20% per stack)." White common item, no unlock required. Applies a flat additive damage multiplier to all hits against enemies within a 13-meter radius of you. Works on direct attacks, DoTs, and proc items - anything that deals damage to an enemy inside the ring. A red ring on the ground marks the radius. Stacks additively.
| Stacks | Bonus Damage | vs 100 base hit | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | +20% | 120 damage | Best common damage item for melee at 1 stack |
| 2 | +40% | 140 damage | Each stack equally potent - no diminishing returns |
| 3 | +60% | 160 damage | Melee builds at 3 stacks hit harder than most reds add |
| 5 | +100% | 200 damage | Effectively doubles all close-range damage |
| 10 | +200% | 300 damage | Triples damage - rivals late-game red item stacks |
Shatterspleen + Focus Crystal is a close-range combo that feeds itself. Shatterspleen makes crits apply Bleed. Focus Crystal boosts every crit that hits within 13m. The explosion that follows also checks distance - if the exploding enemy is within 13m when it dies, the explosion damage is boosted too. Melee survivors stacking both deal massive crit damage and get boosted explosions from every bleed death.
Ignition Tank burn ticks each get the Focus Crystal bonus. Ignition Tank quadruples burn DoT damage, and every tick of that burn is individually checked against the 13m range. A melee survivor with Ignition Tank and Focus Crystal burning a nearby enemy gets multiplied DoT damage where every tick benefits from both items simultaneously.
Laser Scope and Focus Crystal multiply together on melee crits. Laser Scope raises the crit damage multiplier. Focus Crystal adds +20% per stack to the base damage before crit is applied. The two bonuses compound - a 3x crit multiplier on a hit already boosted by +100% Focus Crystal results in dramatically higher numbers than either item alone.
Repulsion Armor Plate enables the close-range positioning Focus Crystal needs. Getting within 13m means taking more damage from enemies. Repulsion Armor Plate reduces the chip damage from being at melee range, making it safer to maintain the Focus Crystal uptime window. The two items are natural defensive-offensive pairing for melee builds.Focus Crystal is a common white item that increases all damage you deal to enemies within 13 meters by 20% (+20% per stack). The bonus applies to direct attacks, damage-over-time effects, and proc damage - anything that deals damage to an enemy inside the red ring that appears around you. Stacks are additive: 5 crystals give +100% damage to nearby enemies.
Distance is checked at the moment damage connects with the enemy, not when you fire the attack. If a projectile is launched from 20m but the enemy is within 13m when it lands, Focus Crystal applies. If a DoT was applied while you were close but you kite away to 15m, each subsequent tick is checked against your current position - not where you were when the DoT was first applied.
Yes. Every individual tick of Bleed, Burn, Blight, and other damage-over-time effects checks the player-to-enemy distance at the moment that tick fires. If the enemy is within 13m when the tick occurs, that tick gets the +20% bonus. This makes Focus Crystal especially strong for DoT-heavy builds where multiple ticks per second all benefit from the bonus as long as you stay close.
Yes, additively. Each additional Focus Crystal adds another +20% to all nearby damage. There is no diminishing return on the stacking - each stack is exactly as valuable as the first. 10 crystals give +200% damage to enemies within 13m, effectively tripling your close-range damage output.
Mostly no for pure ranged playstyles. Huntress, Railgunner, and Engineer turrets rarely fight within 13m intentionally. The bonus only applies when the enemy is inside the ring at the moment damage lands, so a survivor who fights at 20-30m gets no value. It can still be picked up by ranged survivors since melee situations happen, but it is not a priority pick the way it is for Mercenary, Loader, or Acrid.
Singularity Band is the Survivors of the Void DLC void item that corrupts all Focus Crystals. On proc, it fires a black hole that pulls enemies toward a point, dealing damage and creating a brief crowd control effect. It trades Focus Crystal's consistent passive damage bonus for an active proc-based repositioning tool. Picking up Singularity Band permanently removes all your Focus Crystal stacks for the run.
