Golden Fingers in Vampire Survivors are not random pickups. They are 14-second timed kill challenges with five reward tiers, and the highest tier (Cosmic, 2500+ kills) drops Greatest Jubilee, Torrona's Box, Victory Sword, or Anima weapons that no other source provides outside specific stages. Picking up 5 of them also unlocks Space 54 as a bonus.

Picking up a Gold Finger triggers a 14-second invulnerability window, spawns 500 fresh enemies onto the screen, and reduces Cooldown by -100% (so all weapons fire instantly). Killing as many enemies as possible during the 14 seconds determines the reward tier, ranging from Bronze (no requirement) to Cosmic (2500+ kills).
Per the official Vampire Survivors Wiki, the Gold Finger (sometimes called Golden Finger by players) is a rare item pickup that started as exclusive to Astral Stair in patch 1.5.0 ("The Overwhelming One"). It became available on all stages after the Trisection relic is obtained. Gold Finger is also the rarest drop from destroyed light sources. In our experience, Astral Stair remains the most reliable source because all 5 Gold Fingers are guaranteed in fixed locations.
| Effect | Detail |
|---|---|
| Invulnerability | 14 seconds at base; extended to 21 seconds with max Karoma's Mana (Castlevania DLC) |
| Enemy Spawn | 500 enemies spawn over 10 seconds for the player to kill |
| Cooldown | -100% Cooldown (every weapon fires instantly during the window) |
The Astral Stair stage requires a long unlock chain: collect every base game relic to spawn the Eudaimonia Machine, defeat content there to get Gracia's Mirror, enable Inverse Mode, then reach character level 80 in Inverse Inlaid Library. Most players take 8 to 15 hours to complete the full chain.
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Collect every standard relic in the base game (Yellow Sign, Milky Way Map, Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane, Magic Banger, Mindbender, etc.) |
| 2 | Eudaimonia Machine becomes accessible. Run the stage to find every relic on it. |
| 3 | Gracia's Mirror appears on Eudaimonia Machine after collecting all the others. Pick it up to unlock Inverse Mode. |
| 4 | Enable Inverse Mode on Inlaid Library. Reach character level 80 on this Inverse run. |
| 5 | Astral Stair unlocks immediately when level 80 is reached. The stage now appears in the stage select screen. |
VS
Direct answer: Always farm Astral Stair. Trisection drops are too rare to rely on. Use the Empty Tome Cooldown reduction to maximize the on-pickup damage burst instead.
After picking up Trisection, Gold Fingers can drop from light sources on other stages, but the rate is extremely low. Per community reports, even with Greatest Jubilee active to spawn extra light sources, Gold Finger drops outside Astral Stair are rare enough that no reliable farm exists. Astral Stair guarantees 5 Gold Fingers per run in fixed locations (compare with boss spawn reliability), which makes it the only practical source for the Cosmic tier rewards.
All 5 Gold Fingers are in dedicated side rooms reached through teleport doors along the main vertical corridor. The doors appear on both walls of the corridor; each one teleports the player to one of the 5 Gold Finger rooms.
Per the official wiki, Astral Stair is somewhat unintuitive to traverse compared to other maps. The map is static, but the player navigates between sections via teleport doors. The
relic is highly recommended because it shows all 5 Gold Finger icons on the in-game map. Without it, the player has to systematically test each door.
| Door Position | Destination |
|---|---|
| Top of corridor | Teleports to bottom of corridor (loop) |
| Bottom of corridor | Teleports to top of corridor (loop) |
| First door (left wall) | Astral Stair Map relic room |
| Doors 2 to 6 (left/right wall) | 5 separate Gold Finger rooms (one per row) |
| Bottom-right room chain | Trisection relic (random events) |
| Top room chain | Chaos Rosalia relic (Yatta Cavallo level 80 transformation) |
Per community speedrun guides, the optimal Astral Stair clear order is:
There are 5 reward tiers: Bronze (no kill requirement), Silver (500 + Player Level x2), Gold (1000 + Player Level x3), Demon (1500 + Player Level x4), and Cosmic (2500 + Player Level x5). Higher tiers drop better gold, healing, weapons, and Treasure Chests with evolutions.
| Tier | Kill Requirement | Rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 0 + Player Level | Healing (Pet command); bouncy weapon (Bone, Cherry Bomb, Carrello, Celestial Dusting) if player has fewer than 7 items |
| Silver | 500 + Player Level x2 | 32 Gold Coins + Healing + Little Clover + random pickup (Gilded Clover, Nduja Fritta Tanto, or Rosary) |
| Gold | 1000 + Player Level x3 | 64 Gold Coins + Floor Chicken + Treasure Chest (no evolutions; 33% to have 3 items, 3% to have 5) |
| Demon | 1500 + Player Level x4 | 32 Gold Coins + Treasure Chest (all 5 slots can evolve) |
| Cosmic | 2500 + Player Level x5 | 64 Gold Coins + Treasure Chest (all 5 slots evolve) + random Greatest Jubilee, Torrona's Box, Victory Sword, Candybox, or Anima weapon |
Per the official wiki, Cosmic tier (originally going to be called "Demon Finger" before the Demon tier name was promoted) drops a single random weapon from this pool:
Greatest Jubilee,
Torrona's Box,
Victory Sword, or
Candybox if the player has fewer than 6 weapons. The pool also includes anima weapons (
Anima of Mortaccio, Yatta Daikarin, Carozza!, Profusione D'Amore) if the player has fewer than 7 weapons and does not already have an anima weapon.
Direct answer: Cosmic always wins because it adds a random rare weapon on top of the Demon-tier Treasure Chest.
Both tiers drop a Treasure Chest with all 5 slots eligible for evolutions. The difference is that Cosmic adds 32 more Gold Coins, plus a random weapon pull from the rare pool. Compare with gold farm coin yields for context. The 1000-kill gap between tiers (1500 to 2500) is the steepest of any tier transition, requiring significantly stronger weapon scaling. On builds that have weapon scaling but lack a key weapon (like an anima weapon), the Cosmic tier is the only way to add it mid-run.
Reaching Cosmic tier requires roughly 180 kills per second during the 14-second window. The build needs at least one screen-clear weapon (Pentagram, Bloody Tear, Gorgeous Moon) and high Curse to compound enemy density. Pick up Gold Fingers late in the run when the player level is high and the build is fully evolved.
| Requirement | Why |
|---|---|
| High Curse | Curse increases enemy density beyond the 500 base spawn, making more targets available. Stack Torrona's Box (+100% Curse at level 9) plus Skull O'Maniac plus Gold Ring plus Metaglio Right. |
| Screen-clear weapon | Pentagram/Gorgeous Moon, Whip/Bloody Tear, or Garlic/Soul Eater clear the entire screen in one tick, hitting all 500 spawned enemies at once. |
| Level 60 or higher | Player Level x5 adds to the kill threshold, but high level also means more weapon levels and stronger overall scaling. Use Karoma's Mana for the +50% duration extension. |
| Late run timing | Pick up Gold Fingers between minute 15 and 25 when the build is fully online but before the Reaper spawns at 20:00 to disrupt the kill loop. |
Queen Sigma is the canonical Cosmic Finger character (also strong in Banish 80 Weapons achievement runs) because of her access to Mad Groove for late-game density grinding plus high stat ceilings. Per community reports, the build looks like:
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|
| Weapon 1 | Pentagram / Gorgeous Moon (screen-clear) |
| Weapon 2 | Whip / Bloody Tear |
| Weapon 3 | Garlic / Soul Eater |
| Weapon 4 | Lightning Ring / Thunder Loop |
| Weapon 5 | Cross / Heaven Sword |
| Weapon 6 | King Bible / Unholy Vespers |
| Passive 1 | Torrona's Box (max Curse) |
| Passive 2 | Skull O'Maniac (max) |
| Passive 3 | Spinach (Might scaling) |
| Passive 4 | Empty Tome (Cooldown) |
| Passive 5 | Karoma's Mana (Gold Finger duration) |
| Passive 6 | Crown (level pace) |
The Trisection relic in the bottom-right room chain of Astral Stair enables Random Events on all stages. Random Events activate Twitch Mode-style chaos triggers without needing a Twitch connection, and they make Gold Finger drops possible (rarely) on non-Astral Stair stages.
Per the official wiki, Trisection is the third relic on Astral Stair (alongside Chaos Rosalia and Astral Stair Map). It looks like a gray/black disc similar to the one spinning in the bottom-right corner of the screen during Astral Stair runs. Picking it up enables a "Random Events" toggle in the Stage Selection menu. Per community testing, Random Events trigger periodically during runs and can include enemy waves, item swaps, and other chaos events. Compare with Crown Growth scaling for compounding XP synergies. It is similar to the older Twitch Mode but does not require an active Twitch connection.
From the Astral Stair starting platform, fall down into the main vertical corridor. Walk to the bottom of the corridor and find the third door on the left wall (the first two lead to other content). Walk through the chain of rooms until reaching the south section of the final room. Trisection is the gray disc in the south of that room.
Picking up 5 Gold Fingers (cumulative across runs, not in a single run) unlocks the Space 54 stage.
The unlock is automatic once the count hits 5 across all Astral Stair runs combined.
Per the official wiki, Space 54 is one of the late-game challenge stages. It unlocks via the Gold Finger collection rather than a stage-time condition. The cumulative count includes Gold Fingers picked up on Astral Stair across multiple runs, which makes the unlock manageable even if the player only finds 1 to 2 per run on early Astral Stair attempts. Pair with our Skull O Maniac guide for Curse-stacking that boosts kill counts. After unlocking Space 54, Gold Fingers also spawn as stage items there (similar to how Bracer appears on multiple stages once unlocked) (up to 5 per run), making it a secondary farm location alongside Astral Stair.
Per the official wiki, the trailer for the 1.5.0 update originally called the Demon tier "Devil Finger" before it was renamed. All 5 Gold Fingers spawn on the Astral Stair stage in dedicated side rooms reached through teleport doors along the main vertical corridor. After collecting the Trisection relic on Astral Stair, Gold Fingers can also rarely drop from light sources on other stages, but the rate is so low that Astral Stair remains the only practical farm location (similar to Kappa farming being the canonical XP farm).
Astral Stair unlocks by reaching character level 80 on Inverse Inlaid Library. Inverse Mode requires the Gracia's Mirror relic from the Eudaimonia Machine stage, which itself requires collecting every standard relic in the base game first. The full unlock chain typically takes 8 to 15 hours of focused play.
Bronze (0 + Player Level kills) drops healing and a bouncy weapon if the player has fewer than 7 items. Silver (500 + Player Level x2) drops 32 coins, healing, and a Little Clover plus random pickup. Gold (1000 + Player Level x3) drops 64 coins, Floor Chicken, and a Treasure Chest. Demon (1500 + Player Level x4) drops 32 coins and a Treasure Chest with evolutions. Cosmic (2500 + Player Level x5) drops 64 coins, a Treasure Chest, and a random Greatest Jubilee, Torrona's Box, Victory Sword, Candybox, or Anima weapon.
14 seconds at base. With Karoma's Mana from the Castlevania DLC at maximum level (5), the duration extends by +50% to 21 seconds. The 500 enemies spawned during the window appear over the first 10 seconds of the 14-second timer, leaving 4 seconds at base for cleanup kills.
Cosmic requires 2500 + Player Level x5 kills in 14 seconds, which is roughly 180 kills per second. The build needs at least one screen-clear weapon (Pentagram, Bloody Tear, or Gorgeous Moon), high Curse stacking (Torrona's Box, Skull O'Maniac, Gold Ring, Metaglio Right), and ideally Karoma's Mana for the duration extension. Pick up Gold Fingers between minute 15 and 25 when the build is fully online. See our final boss guide for similar late-run timing strategies.
Pick up 5 Gold Fingers cumulatively across runs (not in a single run). Most players unlock Space 54 on their second or third Astral Stair run after collecting all 5 Gold Fingers across the runs. The unlock is automatic once the count hits 5 total.
Trisection enables Random Events on all stages, similar to Twitch Mode but without requiring a Twitch connection. Random Events trigger periodically during runs and can include enemy waves, item swaps, and other chaos triggers. Trisection also enables (very rare) Gold Finger drops from light sources on stages outside Astral Stair.
Per the official wiki, Mad Groove (VIII) does NOT pull stage Gold Fingers (such as the 5 fixed ones on Astral Stair or Space 54). Mad Groove can pull ground pickups normally, so any non-fixed Gold Finger drops (after Trisection unlock) can theoretically be pulled, but in practice they are too rare for this to matter.
Gold Finger mechanics, reward tier thresholds, Astral Stair layout, Trisection relic effects, Karoma's Mana duration scaling, and Space 54 unlock condition cross-referenced against the official Vampire Survivors Wiki on Weirdgloop and the Vampire Survivors Fandom Wiki, including patch v1.5.0 ('The Overwhelming One') documentation that introduced the Gold Finger pickup. In our experience, the wiki Gold Finger and Astral Stair pages are the definitive references for tier breakpoints and reward pool randomization.
