One-time scripted Avatar of Gaea event. Skip every Chickenfantry kill for one minute.
The Coop hides a one-time scripted event that fires when the player kills zero Chickenfantries for the first 60 seconds. Per the wiki, the screen zooms in, the music stops, the background turns rainbow, and the Avatar of Gaea slowly approaches from the bottom of the stage. The encounter ends the run automatically, counts as completing the stage, and unlocks the Gaze of Gaea as the reward.
This is the only achievement in Vampire Survivors that requires deliberate non-action. According to the wiki, every other achievement in the game asks the player to do something. This one asks the player to do nothing for 60 seconds while every starting weapon tries to fire on the Chickenfantry waves that run through the stage at 100-enemy density.
Build context. The wiki specifies several characters and item combinations that make the zero-kill window achievable. Gennaro Belpaese stands at the edge of the stage so his Knives fly into empty space. Iguana Gallo Valletto and Divano Thelma can press Skip on the first level-up screen. Big Trouser plus a Candybox pick (Clock Lancet, Laurel, or Arma Dio) blocks all incoming damage without dealing any.
This guide covers the achievement requirements, the trigger event, the four reliable strategies the wiki lists, the characters that lock the unlock, the Gaze of Gaea reward, and the mistakes that accidentally kill a Chickenfantry and force a retry on a fresh save.
Gaze of Gaea, the eye-throwing weapon from Tides of the Foscari, unlocked as an alternative route through The Coop.
Gennaro Belpaese. Walk to the top or bottom edge, his Knives fly outside the stage boundary, zero enemies die.The Coop opens with a wave of Chickenfantries running through the stage that the player is supposed to kill. The wiki specifies that the timer at the top does NOT start incrementing until the first Chickenfantry dies. If the player keeps the kill count at zero for one minute of real-world time, the Avatar of Gaea cinematic fires automatically.
According to the wiki, the cinematic itself plays out predictably: the screen gradually zooms in, the music stops, the stage background fades to a solid rainbow color, and the Avatar of Gaea boss approaches from the bottom of the screen. When she reaches the player, the background turns dark, Gaea disappears, and a chiming sound plays before her eyes briefly flash. The run then ends and counts as a stage completion.
Per the wiki, the music change is the cleanest indicator that the trigger fired correctly. Before the first kill, the stage theme Martes de poncle plays in slow motion. The trigger window starts when the player enters the stage; the moment any Chickenfantry dies, the music speeds up to normal tempo and the achievement is no longer reachable on that run.
The wiki notes the event only fires ONCE per save. After Gaze of Gaea unlocks the first time, future zero-kill runs in The Coop do not re-trigger the cinematic. In actual play, this means the first attempt matters. Pick a tested character, set up at the edge of the stage, and do not move toward the Chickenfantry waves until the 60-second mark.
The Coop has its own unlock chain that has to clear before the zero-kill achievement attempt becomes possible. Per the wiki, the stage unlocks by collecting 500 Floor Chickens across any stages, which also unlocks the stage's hyper mode in the same step. Alternatively, the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane can cast the coopwhen spell to unlock the stage immediately.
| Step | Requirement |
|---|---|
| 1. Collect 500 Floor Chickens | Pick up Floor Chickens from destructibles and enemies across any stages until the 500 cumulative count hits |
| 2. Unlock the stage | The Coop appears in Stage Selection automatically once the chicken count reaches 500. Hyper mode unlocks in the same step |
| 3. Pick a zero-kill-friendly character | Gennaro, Gallo, Divano, Fleaman, or Big Trouser (see strategies below) |
| 4. Run The Coop and avoid all kills | Stay still or kite away from Chickenfantries for the full 60 seconds |
The Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane shortcut requires the Yellow Sign relic from Holy Forbidden. According to the wiki, casting the coopwhen spell in the scrolls instantly unlocks The Coop without the 500-Floor Chicken grind. This is the fastest route for completionist saves that already cleared Holy Forbidden in an earlier run.
The wiki lists five reliable zero-kill characters, each with a different mechanic for avoiding the Chickenfantry kills. The common thread is either firing weapons into empty space, refusing the level-up screen, or selecting utility items from the Candybox menu that block damage without dealing any.
| Character | Strategy | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
Gennaro Belpaese | Walk to top or bottom edge immediately | His Knives fly outside the stage boundary, no Chickenfantry intersects the projectile path |
Iguana Gallo Valletto | Press Skip on the first level-up screen | Gallo's Clock Lancet starter does no damage by design, and Skip prevents accidental weapon pickup |
Divano Thelma | Press Skip on the first level-up screen | Divano's Laurel starter shields without dealing damage, and Skip prevents accidental weapon pickup |
Fleaman (OtC DLC) | Avoid picking up Experience Gems | Without XP, no level-ups fire, no weapons evolve, no incidental damage rolls. Requires Ode to Castlevania DLC |
Big Trouser | Select Clock Lancet, Laurel, or Arma Dio from Candybox | All three are utility/defensive items. Pick any passive after, no incidental damage |
Per the wiki, Gennaro is the most reliable pick because the stage edge kiting strategy does not require careful Skip timing or DLC ownership. In practice, the run takes about 75 seconds end-to-end: 15 seconds to reach the edge, 60 seconds of standing still, then the cinematic fires automatically. Big Trouser is the backup for players who do not have Gennaro unlocked.
Move to the FAR edge, not just away from the player spawn point. The Chickenfantry waves spawn horizontally and traverse the stage, so the top or bottom edge is the only true safe zone. According to the wiki, Gennaro's Knives need to fly off-screen to count as zero damage, which specifically requires the player to be at the vertical edge with the Knife direction pointing into empty space.
Gaze of Gaea is the achievement reward. According to the wiki, the weapon is also available as a standard unlock through Tides of the Foscari DLC by defeating Avatar of Gaea in the Lake Foscari stage at 25:00. The Coop zero-kill achievement is an alternative route that does not require the TotF DLC, which makes it the cheapest path to the weapon for free-tier players.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Weapon name | Gaze of Gaea |
| Source DLC | Tides of the Foscari (standard route) |
| Coop unlock | Trigger the Avatar of Gaea event by killing zero Chickenfantries for 60 seconds |
| Achievement Gamerscore | 5 G (EXTRA: Gaze of Gaea) |
| Other Coop relic | Roast Chicken with a Clock in the Middle at 15:00 |
Per the wiki, the achievement ID is EXTRA: Gaze of Gaea, worth 5 Gamerscore on Xbox and a Bronze trophy on PlayStation. Coop completion via the zero-kill route fires both the in-game weapon unlock and the platform achievement at the same moment, so the run only needs to clear the trigger once for both rewards.
Pair the Coop achievement run with the Gaze of Gaea spoke, the Candybox options listed in the wiki strategies, and the broader Coop stage context.
