What the Rancid Egg Does

The Rancid Egg has no direct combat or movement use. Per the wiki, it is a trade item, meaning it only matters when handed to the right NPC. The two transactions that matter are summoning the Shade and selling for Geo.

Confessor Jiji and the Shade

The headline use of the Rancid Egg is the Shade summon. Per the wiki, Confessor Jiji lives in a cave on the east side of Dirtmouth, behind a door that needs the Simple Key to open.

According to the wiki, giving Jiji a Rancid Egg summons the Shade left behind at your last death directly into her chamber. You still have to defeat the Shade to reclaim your Geo and restore the Soul meter, but you no longer have to travel back to wherever you fell.

3. Grubfather reward. The Grubfather hands over one egg among his rewards for rescuing 16 Grubs.

Common Mistakes
