A 1-notch charm that releases a 26-damage spore cloud whenever the Knight uses Focus. Hidden in Fungal Wastes by the Queen’s Gardens acid pool, requires Mantis Claw.
Spore Shroom turns every Focus heal into a mini bug bomb. According to the wiki, the 1-notch charm releases a damaging spore cloud around the Knight on Focus, dealing ~26 damage over 4.1 seconds. The cloud lingers in place, which means the Knight can heal in melee range and the surrounding enemies take chip damage while the channel completes.
Per the wiki, the cloud has a 4.25-second cooldown OR resets when the Knight takes damage. The hit-resets-cooldown rule is the buried lede: if the Knight gets hit during the cloud, the next Focus immediately fires another cloud. Fast-bossing builds turn the charm into a near-continuous damage aura.
The wiki specifies the charm also unlocks Mister Mushroom dialogue (the wandering NPC that drops 4 lore tablets across Hallownest) and lets the Knight read mushroom-tribe lore tablets in Fungal Wastes and one in Kingdom’s Edge. Completionists need Spore Shroom equipped for every Mister Mushroom encounter to get the Mr. Mushroom 4 achievement.
This guide covers the 26-damage cloud math, the Fungal Wastes pickup route, the Defender’s Crest 40-damage upgrade combo, the Deep Focus +35% radius pairing, and the Mister Mushroom lore-unlock secondary effect.
Releases a ~26 damage spore cloud on Focus, 4.25s cooldown or reset on damage taken.
Fungal Wastes acid pool, near Queen’s Gardens and Deepnest entries. Requires Mantis Claw.
Defender’s Crest + Deep Focus for the 40-damage cloud at +35% radius.
No-Focus builds; the cloud only fires on the Focus channel, so Joni’s Blessing builds get zero benefit.Spore Shroom triggers on Focus and only on Focus. Per the wiki, the moment the channel completes the Mask heal, a green spore cloud expands around the Knight and ticks damage to every enemy inside for 4.1 seconds. The cloud is static; it does not follow the Knight after firing.
According to the wiki, the cooldown is 4.25 seconds OR until the Knight takes damage, whichever comes first. The damage-reset rule means aggressive bosses that hit the Knight frequently trigger near-back-to-back Spore Shroom clouds. In a Pantheon Pure Vessel fight where the Knight takes 2-3 hits per round, the cloud can fire 5-6 times per minute instead of the maximum ~14 cooldown-locked spawns per minute.
The wiki specifies the cloud is centered on the Knight’s position at Focus completion and does not move. Players who Focus mid-melee (with Stalwart Shell + Shape of Unn) drop the cloud directly on top of the boss and watch ~26 damage tick out across the next 4 seconds.
Per the wiki, the cloud damage cannot crit and does not scale with nail tier or Strength. The 26-damage figure is fixed baseline; the only way to increase cloud damage is to equip Defender’s Crest, which raises it to ~40 damage over the same 4.1 seconds.

Per the wiki, Spore Shroom is the cheapest damage-on-Focus charm in the game at 1 notch. The fixed 26-damage output makes it scale poorly in endgame fights against high-HP bosses (Absolute Radiance has 1450 HP across phases), but the 1-notch cost makes it a no-cost utility addition to almost any sustain build.
Spore Shroom sits in Fungal Wastes on a small platform above an acid pool, near the corridors leading to Queen’s Gardens and Deepnest. Per the wiki, the route requires Mantis Claw for the wall-jump up to the platform; no acid-tolerance gate (Isma’s Tear) is needed since the platform sits above the pool, not in it.
Per the wiki, the same Fungal Wastes visit can clear two pickups: Spore Shroom on the acid-pool platform and Fragile Strength at Leg Eater’s shop further south. Both fit in one bench-to-bench route from the Queen’s Station stag.
Spore Shroom is the gate for the Mister Mushroom dialogue chain. Per the wiki, the charm allows the Knight to understand Mister Mushroom (a wandering NPC who appears in 4 fixed locations across Hallownest) and to read the mushroom-tribe lore tablets in Fungal Wastes and Kingdom’s Edge.
According to the wiki, the achievement "Mr. Mushroom" requires the Knight to find Mister Mushroom in all 4 locations with Spore Shroom equipped. The locations are: Fungal Wastes (near the Spore Shroom pickup), Greenpath (near the Stone Sanctuary), Howling Cliffs (near the Joni’s Repose entry), and Ancient Basin (near the Tram). Each encounter reveals a piece of mushroom-tribe lore.
The wiki notes Mister Mushroom’s dialogue without Spore Shroom shows as untranslated mushroom-language symbols. With the charm equipped, the symbols become readable English explaining the mushroom-tribe history and their relationship with the deeper Hallownest infection layer.
Per the wiki, lore-tablet reads do NOT require Spore Shroom to be equipped at all times. The Knight can equip it for the read, get the lore, and unequip afterward. The achievement and completion logs still register the read as permanent. The 1-notch cost is a temporary slot allocation only.
Spore Shroom pairs cleanly with the rest of the Focus-utility cluster. Per the wiki, the two flagship pairings are Defender’s Crest (+damage) and Deep Focus (+radius), with Shape of Unn and Baldur Shell as the cosmetic-and-functional sustain extension.
Defender’s Crest pairingAccording to the wiki, Defender’s Crest raises the Spore Shroom cloud damage from ~26 to ~40 over the same 4.1 seconds. The cloud visuals change too (greener, denser). Notch cost: 2 (1 + 1). The combo is the canonical 2-notch damage-on-Focus utility stack.
Deep Focus pairingPer the wiki, Deep Focus increases the cloud radius by 35%, which expands the damage AoE significantly. The combo also doubles the Mask heal per Focus channel, so the cloud-plus-heal pairing turns a single Focus into both a 2-Mask recovery and a wider damage burst. Notch cost: 5 (1 + 4).
Shape of Unn pairingThe wiki specifies Shape of Unn lets the Knight move while channeling Focus. Combined with Spore Shroom, the Knight can drop the cloud directly on top of a boss by sliding into them during the channel, then back out as the cloud lingers. Notch cost: 3 (1 + 2).
Baldur Shell pairingPer the wiki, Baldur Shell blocks frontal damage during Focus. Combined with Spore Shroom + Shape of Unn, the Knight becomes a moving, shielded, damage-emitting healer. The visual tell also changes (the Knight’s snail form gains a different shell pattern). Notch cost: 3 (1 + 2).
The 5-notch Focus-utility loadout (Spore Shroom + Defender’s Crest + Deep Focus) is the canonical Spore Shroom build. Per the wiki, the spread covers cloud damage, cloud radius, and double-Mask healing in one budget. Adding Shape of Unn and Stalwart Shell fills the 11-notch budget for a near-invincible healing-damage hybrid.
Spore Shroom (1 notch; ~26 damage cloud on Focus)
Defender’s Crest (1 notch; cloud damage to ~40)
Deep Focus (4 notches; +35% radius, +1 Mask per Focus)
Shape of Unn (2 notches; move while Focus)
Baldur Shell (2 notches; frontal damage block during Focus)According to the wiki, this 10-notch loadout leaves 1 notch free for overcharm flexibility in the 11-notch budget. In actual play, the build dominates trash-mob clear in long farm routes (City of Tears Husk loops, Mantis Village trial) and Hall of Gods grinding where the cloud chip damage stacks across multiple rounds.
Spore Shroom ties to the Fungal Wastes mushroom-tribe lore, the Defender’s Crest damage stack, and the Mister Mushroom 4-location chain. These spokes pick up the threads.
