A 4-notch charm that converts every Mask to Lifeblood and adds 40% more (5 to 7 default, 7 to 10 with Fragile Heart). Lifeblood Masks cannot be Focus-healed.
Joni's Blessing turns the Knight's HP bar into a one-way pool. According to the wiki, every Mask becomes a Lifeblood Mask and the count goes up by 40% (rounded up), so a default 5-Mask Knight runs at 7 Lifeblood Masks. The catch is the buried lede: Lifeblood Masks cannot be Focus-healed, which means the Knight trades sustain entirely for raw HP.
Per the wiki, the pickup sits in Joni's Repose, a small chamber in Howling Cliffs reached from the Crystal Heart-gated eastern shaft. The charm rests on the corpse of Blue Child Joni, a worshiper of Lifeblood whose death is canonically the source of the blessing.
The wiki specifies the 40% calculation only counts base Masks plus Fragile Heart or Unbreakable Heart Masks. Lifeblood Heart and Lifeblood Core additions stack on top separately, so the maximum sustainable Lifeblood pool is 16 Masks (11-Mask cap +40% rounded up). Spell builds run Joni's because the SOUL meter goes to casts rather than heals.
This guide covers the +40% Lifeblood math, the Joni's Repose pickup, the Focus exemption trade-off, the Lifeblood Core comparison, and the canonical spell-build loadouts that justify the 4-notch slot.
All Masks become Lifeblood with a +40% rounded-up count boost; Focus cannot heal them.
Joni's Repose in Howling Cliffs, on Blue Child Joni's corpse (no Geo cost).
Spell-heavy builds; freed SOUL goes to Vengeful Spirit or Howling Wraiths instead of Focus heals.
Focus sustain builds; the 4-notch slot zero-value if Focus is the heal plan.Joni's Blessing rewrites the entire Mask system on equip. Per the wiki, the charm multiplies the Knight's base Mask count by 1.4 (rounded up) and converts every resulting Mask to the blue Lifeblood type. The base 5 becomes 7; 7 becomes 10; the 11-Mask cap becomes 16.
According to the wiki, the +40% only counts base Masks plus Fragile Heart or Unbreakable Heart Masks. Lifeblood Heart and Lifeblood Core Masks stack ON TOP without being included in the multiplier calculation. The wiki effects block lists the full breakdown: 5 base + 2 Fragile Heart = 7 source Masks, multiplied by 1.4 = 10 Lifeblood Masks.
The wiki specifies a second secondary effect: Lifeseeds in the Abyss and other Lifeblood-related rooms flock toward the Knight instead of fleeing. The behavior change makes Lifeblood-farming faster, which matters for the 15-Mask Lifeblood Core access puzzle.
Per the wiki, the Knight cannot heal Lifeblood Masks at Benches in the normal way. Benches restore base Masks plus Lifeblood from Lifeblood Heart, but Joni's converts those base Masks to Lifeblood, which means rest only refills the regular-Mask portion before conversion. In practice the bench refill looks normal because the conversion happens at equip-time, not at heal-time.

Per the wiki, Joni's Blessing is the highest-notch HP charm in the game at 4 notches. The trade is the no-Focus-heal restriction, which forces the Knight into either spell-spam builds (SOUL goes to damage, not heals) or Lifeblood-farming runs where bench refills cover the regen.
Joni's Blessing sits in Joni's Repose, a small chamber accessed from the eastern shaft of Howling Cliffs. Per the wiki, the route requires Crystal Heart Super Dash to clear a spike-lined corridor before the chamber, which makes the pickup a mid-game backtrack rather than an early reward.
Per the wiki, Joni's Repose is the only place outside the Abyss where Lifeseeds gather naturally. The chamber doubles as a free Lifeblood top-up before Pantheon runs: pop in, collect the floating Lifeblood orbs, head to Godhome with the buffer pre-filled.
Joni's Blessing disables Focus healing entirely. Per the wiki, the channel still fires and still drains 33 SOUL per attempt, but no Mask recovery happens because every Mask on the bar is Lifeblood. The Knight ends the channel with the same HP as the start, minus the SOUL spent.
According to the wiki, this is why Joni's reads as a spell-build charm rather than a sustain charm. The freed SOUL goes to Vengeful Spirit (15 damage at 33 SOUL), Shade Soul (30 damage at 33 SOUL), or Howling Wraiths instead of being eaten by heal channels. In a spell-spam build the no-Focus-heal restriction is functionally free.
The wiki notes the inverse case: any build that relies on Quick Focus, Deep Focus, or Shape of Unn wastes 4 notches on Joni's because none of those sustain charms function. The 4-notch slot becomes a permanent +5 HP buff with no recovery path; if the Knight dies once during a Pantheon, the buffer is gone.
Lifeblood Core is usually the more efficient pick. Per the wiki, Joni's adds at most 5 net Lifeblood Masks (5 base to 7 Lifeblood = +2 net, max 11 to 16 = +5 net), while Lifeblood Core adds 4 flat Lifeblood Masks at 3 notches (one less than Joni's) and does NOT block Focus.
According to the wiki, Lifeblood Core wins on notch efficiency and sustain compatibility. Joni's wins only when the Knight has not yet unlocked Lifeblood Core (the Abyss 15-Lifeblood-Mask threshold) and needs +HP before the endgame. Once Lifeblood Core is in the inventory, Joni's usually gets unequipped.
The wiki specifies one combo case: Joni's + Lifeblood Heart + Lifeblood Core stacks to 11 Lifeblood Masks above the multiplied pool. At 11 base Masks (max), the build runs 16 multiplied + 2 Lifeblood Heart + 4 Lifeblood Core = 22 Lifeblood Masks total. The 7-notch combined cost is the highest-HP build in the game.
Per the wiki, unlocking Lifeblood Core requires 15 Lifeblood Masks at the Abyss Lifeblood threshold. Joni's helps reach the threshold faster (7 base Lifeblood + 2 Lifeblood Heart + Lifeseed farming = 15 easily). After unlocking Lifeblood Core, most players unequip Joni's in favor of the cheaper, more flexible Lifeblood Core slot.
The 11-notch spell-spam loadout is the canonical Joni's build. Per the wiki, the spread covers HP buffer, spell damage, spell economy, and SOUL refill in one budget while embracing the no-Focus-heal trade.
Joni's Blessing (4 notches; +40% Lifeblood Mask conversion)
Spell Twister (2 notches; 33 to 24 SOUL per spell)
Shaman Stone (3 notches; +33% spell damage)
Lifeblood Heart (2 notches; +2 Lifeblood on top of multiplied pool)According to the wiki, this 11-notch loadout covers a 9-Lifeblood-Mask buffer (default 5 to 7 Joni's + 2 Lifeblood Heart) and a 4-cast-per-meter spell economy (Spell Twister + Shaman Stone). In actual play, the build clears Pantheon White Defender and Hall of Gods Radiant spell loops without ever channeling a heal; the Knight runs every cast for damage instead.
Joni's Blessing ties to the Howling Cliffs Lifeblood lore, the Abyss Lifeblood Core unlock, and the spell-build trade-off space. These spokes pick up the threads.
