Artifact of Devotion Risk of Rain 2

Artifact of Devotion

Replace broken drones with Lemurian Eggs. Each egg costs one item to hatch a Lemurian ally - and every other Lemurian in your flock receives that item too. Lemurians evolve after each teleporter boss into Elite Lemurians, then Elder Lemurians, then Elite Elder Lemurians with Perfected affixes. They scale with player level and share a unified item pool. The code is in the Abyssal Depths logbook diorama - originally revealed via the official RoR2 Twitter/X account.

How Hatching Works

Eggs replace all broken drones and turrets. Any drone spawn point that would normally be a repairable drone instead becomes a Lemurian Egg. Engineer turret spots also become eggs.
Offer one item to hatch. No gold cost. Interact with the egg and select any common, uncommon, legendary, or boss item. That item disappears from your inventory and a Lemurian ally hatches.
All Lemurians share every offered item. Hatching a second Lemurian gives ALL existing Lemurians the newly offered item. A flock of 4 Lemurians all share all 4 offered items simultaneously.
Cannot offer lunar, void, meal items, scrap, or blacklisted items. Sprint-related items can be offered but waste slots since Lemurians cannot sprint.
Void Seed presence locks eggs. Any Lemurian Egg on the stage cannot be interacted with while a Void Seed is active. Collapse the Void Seed first. A visual bug makes eggs appear locked after the teleporter event too, but they are actually interactable.
Void Infestors are catastrophic. A Void Infestor that reaches a Lemurian ally will infestate it, turning it hostile. Keep Lemurians away from Void Seeds and Void Infestors at all costs.

Lemurian Evolution

Lemurians evolve after every teleporter boss kill. Each evolution increases their HP and damage by 10% and grants them an additional stack of all held items.

Level Trigger Form Bonus
Level 0Hatched from eggBasic Lemurian (leather vest)Wears items offered
Level 1Teleporter boss killElite Lemurian (Tier 1 elite affix)+10% HP/DMG, gains 1 item stack
Level 2Teleporter boss killElder Lemurian (no elite)+10% HP/DMG, gains 1 item stack
Level 3Teleporter boss killElite Elder Lemurian (Tier 1/2/Perfected randomly)+10% HP/DMG, gains 1 item stack
Level 3 Elite Elder Lemurians Are Devastating

A flock of Level 3 Elite Elder Lemurians with legendaries is one of the strongest forces in the game. Perfected Elite Elder Lemurians drain player cooldowns on hit - keep them away from yourself with Artifact of Chaos active.

Best Items to Offer

Ukulele
Ukulele
Lemurians attack in groups. Chain lightning spreads between nearby enemies and their own cluster, generating constant chain procs.
Brainstalks
Brainstalks
Lemurians kill enemies constantly. Each elite kill by a Lemurian triggers Brainstalks - with Honor active all kills count.
Crowbar
Crowbar
+75% damage to enemies above 90% HP. Lemurians fire-spread and tag enemies before you close in - Crowbar synergizes with their opening shot.
Old Guillotine
Old Guillotine
Lemurians can trigger execution on elites. With Honor active, every Lemurian kill is an elite kill with Old Guillotine eligible.
Tougher Times
Tougher Times
Block chance on each Lemurian. A flock with multiple Tougher Times stacks each becomes significantly tankier against incoming hits.
Fuel Array
Free item traded for a free Lemurian egg from Stage 1. Sacrifice Fuel Array early to start hatching without spending a real item.

Best Combos

Devotion + Command
Devotion + Command

Choose every item and duplicate every choice to all Lemurians. A single Command Essence offers an item that the entire flock receives simultaneously. Build a shared legendary army.

Devotion + Honor
Devotion + Honor

All enemies are elites and every Lemurian kill is an elite kill. Brainstalks and Old Guillotine proc on every flock kill. After a few evolutions, Lemurians become elite Elders themselves.

Devotion + Sacrifice
Devotion + Sacrifice

Hatch Lemurians with an item and they'll drop scrap if they die. Combined with Sacrifice drops from kills, more loot flows into the run. The flock becomes a loot-generating army.

Devotion + Swarms
Devotion + Swarms

Double enemy spawns means the flock has more targets. More kills = faster evolution. Lemurians become Elites and Elders faster with Swarms active.

Devotion alone
Devotion alone

Strongest mid-to-late game modifier in the set. Early Lemurians are fragile. By Stage 4 with evolved Elite Elders carrying legendaries, the flock outperforms most other modifiers.

Devotion + Evolution

All monsters gain items each stage AND Lemurians also gain items from new hatches. By Stage 4, evolved Lemurian Elders with stacked legendaries compete with evolution-itemized enemies.

Tips

Hatch as many Lemurians as possible early. Each new hatch upgrades all existing Lemurians. A flock of 5 Lemurians all sharing 5 items is exponentially stronger than 1 with 5 items.
Offer your best items to the flock. Items you offer are removed from your inventory but the entire flock benefits. Shared legendaries on 4+ Lemurians often outperform keeping them yourself.
Babysit them around Void Seeds. Lemurians have no awareness of environmental hazards. Void Seed enemies will slaughter your flock if left unattended. Clear Void Seeds before your Lemurians wander into range.
Distinguished by leather vests. Devoted Lemurians wear a leather vest to distinguish them from enemy Lemurians. If you have Artifact of Kin with Lemurians, tell them apart by the vest.
Avoid sprint items. Lemurians cannot sprint, so sprint-based items (Hunter's Harpoon, etc.) are completely wasted when offered. Stick to unconditional damage, attack speed, HP, and proc items.
Death drops scrap of the same rarity. If a Lemurian dies, you recover scrap equal to the rarity of the original offered item. Take it to a Scrapper to convert. Losing a Lemurian isn't a total loss.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Artifact of Devotion do in Risk of Rain 2?

The Artifact of Devotion replaces all broken drones and turrets with Lemurian Eggs. Interacting with an egg lets you offer one item to hatch a Lemurian ally. Every existing Lemurian also receives that item. Lemurians evolve after each teleporter boss kill - becoming Elite Lemurians, then Elder Lemurians, then Elite Elder Lemurians. They scale with player level and share all offered items across the flock.

What is the Artifact of Devotion code?

The Artifact of Devotion code is ▲♦▲ ■♦■ ♦▲♦ - Triangle-Diamond-Triangle on top, Square-Diamond-Square in the middle, Diamond-Triangle-Diamond on the bottom. The code appears under the Abyssal Depths logbook diorama. It was originally posted on the official Risk of Rain 2 Twitter/X account and not initially findable in-game.

Do all Lemurians share items with Artifact of Devotion?

Yes. Every Lemurian in your flock shares the same item pool. When you offer an item to hatch a new Lemurian, every existing Lemurian immediately receives a copy of that item too. This makes each new egg you hatch a mass upgrade for the entire flock.

How do Lemurians evolve with Artifact of Devotion?

Lemurians evolve after each teleporter boss kill. At Level 1 they become a Tier 1 Elite Lemurian. At Level 2 they transform into an Elder Lemurian without an elite modifier. At Level 3 they become an Elite Elder Lemurian with a randomly chosen Tier 1, Tier 2, or Perfected elite affix. Each evolution also grants them a bonus stack of their items and +10% HP and damage.

What items can you NOT offer to Lemurian Eggs?

You cannot offer lunar items, void items, meal items, scrap, or items on the devotion/turret blacklist. Only common, uncommon, legendary, and boss items are eligible. Sprint-related items can be offered but provide no benefit since Lemurians cannot sprint.

What happens when a Lemurian dies?

When a devoted Lemurian dies, it drops a piece of scrap matching the rarity of the item originally offered to hatch it. This scrap can be used at a Scrapper. The Lemurian is permanently gone - it does not respawn unless you find and interact with another egg.
