Half gold and XP per kill sounds bad, but you're killing twice as many enemies. Total gold earned and total XP gained per stage are approximately the same as a normal run. You level up at the same pace - the difference is the two Mithrix fight at the end and the doubled proc frequency from double enemy counts.

Tips

Stack on-kill items early. Gasoline and Will-o'-the-Wisp become run-defining with Swarms. The first kill ignites the next enemy which kills it which ignites the next. Chain reactions clear stages in seconds.
Two Mithrix at the end. Plan your final build around surviving and dealing damage to two Mithrix simultaneously. Burst damage builds that can quickly kill one before focusing the other work best. Items that target multiple enemies (Ukulele, AtG, Ceremonial Dagger) shine here.
Sacrifice drop rates are barely hurt. The halved drop chance matters least for common enemies already near the 5% floor. High-credit elites and bosses lose more proportionally - but you get double the elites to compensate.
Vengeance becomes two doppelgangers. Both have half the normal max health - and each still has your full item set. They're easier individually but you're managing two simultaneously. Kill one fast.
The Reliquary is not doubled. You still need exactly 4 Artifact Keys to complete any trial. The doubled enemy spawns during the trial do make finding keys faster.
HP reduction applies after elite calculations. Elites already have boosted health - Swarms then halves that boosted total. Elite enemies are still tankier than normals but less so than without Swarms.
