The Gold Portal leads to the Gilded Coast, a hidden realm where you fight Aurelionite for the Halcyon Seed boss item. The portal is triggered by paying an Altar of Gold on any stage, using the Lunar Seer in the Bazaar, or a Halcyon Shrine in SotS DLC. Time is paused inside Gilded Coast so there is no scaling penalty for visiting.
Rare golden shrine on any Stage 2+. Pay the gold cost, complete the teleporter event, Gold Portal spawns. Captain can hack it for free with his Hacking Beacon utility.
In the Bazaar Between Time, the Lunar Seer shows upcoming stage choices. Gilded Coast has a rare chance to appear as an option. Spend 3 Lunar Coins to select it as your next stage. Most reliable method for dedicated farming.
If you have already completed the Path of the Colossus in the current run, charging a Halcyon Shrine spawns a Gold Portal to Gilded Coast instead of a Green Portal.
Find an Altar of Gold on any stage. These are rare golden shrines that can spawn on Stage 2+. They look similar to Shrines of Chance but are solid gold. Some runs never produce one.
Pay the Altar's gold cost. The amount scales with time and difficulty. A message confirms: "A gold orb has appeared." A Gold Orb now orbits the teleporter.
Complete the teleporter event normally. After the boss dies and the teleporter charges, the Gold Portal spawns next to the teleporter. Enter it.
Captain's Hacking Beacon can be used on the Altar of Gold to activate it without paying any gold. This makes Captain the best survivor for guaranteed Gilded Coast access when an Altar spawns.
The Gilded Coast is a small arena with 7 Halcyon Beacons, 4 guaranteed small chests, and Aurelionite as the boss. Your objective: activate all 7 beacons, kill Aurelionite during her vulnerability window.
Scattered around the map. Base cost $25 each, scaling with time. You must activate all 7 to make Aurelionite vulnerable.
Aurelionite appears after the 4th beacon is activated but is fully invulnerable (white outline). Cannot be damaged or killed by Trophy Hunter's Tricorn yet.
All 7 active = Aurelionite becomes damageable. You have a limited time to kill her before she deactivates all beacons and resets.
If Aurelionite deactivates all beacons before you kill her, you must rebuy all 7. This is why farming gold from enemies FIRST is critical.
Difficulty and run timer are frozen while inside Gilded Coast. You will not fall behind on scaling.
Four small chests spawn at fixed locations. Two at ends of the half-buried ring structure, two in the water (one behind a tree, one behind a fallen golem statue).
Kill as many enemies as possible before activating the 4th Beacon. Once Aurelionite spawns you need to activate beacons 5, 6, and 7 quickly. Having gold stockpiled means you can do this without stopping to chase enemies.
Charged laser that constantly tracks your position. Hide behind obstacles to break line of sight.
Erupts multiple spikes under you, launching you into the air. Dangerous if followed by a laser.
White outline = cannot be damaged. Activate all 7 beacons before attempting to deal damage.
Farm enemies before activating the 4th beacon. Then quickly activate the remaining 3 and burst her down. High burst DPS survivors fare best.
Aurelionite spawns as an ally at every teleporter event. She returns to your inventory as the Seed when the event ends.
Total Halcyon Seeds across all players combine. Each extra seed gives Aurelionite +50% damage and +100% health.
Aurelionite appears during Mithrix's Phase 4 (item steal phase). Triggers unique dialogue from Mithrix. Extremely helpful since you have no items.
Halcyon Seed in inventory when you defeat False Son unlocks him as a playable survivor. Key unlock condition.
Defeat Aurelionite without letting her deactivate any beacons. Requires activating all 7 quickly and sustaining burst damage.
Cannot execute Aurelionite while she is invulnerable. Wait until all 7 beacons are active before using the Tricorn.
During Mithrix's Phase 4, he steals all your items. Aurelionite spawns to fight alongside you - when you have no items, she can carry the damage. Mithrix reacts with unique dialogue: "THE GUARDIAN...? IMPOSSIBLE...!" Brings her back every Teleporter event for the rest of the run if you survive.
Find an Altar of Gold on any Stage 2 or later and pay its gold cost. A message confirms a gold orb has appeared. Complete the teleporter event and the Gold Portal spawns next to the teleporter. Alternatively, spend 3 Lunar Coins on the Lunar Seer in the Bazaar Between Time if Gilded Coast appears as a stage option.
Very rare. The Altar of Gold has a low spawn rate and some players go many runs without ever seeing one. It cannot spawn on Stage 1. The Lunar Seer method in the Bazaar is more reliable if you specifically want to farm Aurelionite.
Activate all 7 Halcyon Beacons around the Gilded Coast. Aurelionite spawns after the 4th beacon but remains invulnerable (white outline) until all 7 are active. If she deactivates the beacons before you kill her, you must rebuy all 7.
The Halcyon Seed summons Aurelionite as an ally during every teleporter event with 100% damage and 100% health base. Each additional stack adds 50% damage and 100% health. During Mithrix's Phase 4, Aurelionite also appears when your items are stolen, providing crucial damage.
Yes. Captain's Hacking Beacon utility skill can be used on the Altar of Gold to activate it for free, bypassing the gold cost entirely. This is one of Captain's strongest advantages for reaching Gilded Coast.
No. Both the difficulty scaling timer and the run timer are paused while you are in the Gilded Coast. You can take as long as you need to defeat Aurelionite without falling behind on difficulty scaling.
Blackout requires defeating Aurelionite without letting her deactivate any beacons. Achieve this by activating all 7 beacons quickly and sustaining enough burst DPS to kill her before the vulnerability window closes.
