A corrupted survivor that fluctuates between a Controlled form and a Corrupted form, each with distinct strengths. Controlled form excels at long-range safety and healing through Suppress. Corrupted form trades healing for Corrupted Drown's 2000% beam damage and gains +100 armor. Corruption builds constantly in combat and depletes out of it - managing the transition is the core skill of Void Fiend.
Taking damage, landing critical hits, holding void items (each adds 2% minimum corruption), and passively over time while in combat.
Using Suppress, passively over time while out of combat. Healing does NOT reduce Corruption.
Void Fiend enters Corrupted form. All skills change. Suppress becomes Corrupted Suppress (self-damage for +25% Corruption). Healing is disabled. Gain +100 armor. Transition grants 0.5s invincibility.
Each void item increases minimum Corruption by 2%. At 13 void items, minimum Corruption hits 26%+, allowing Suppress to infinitely heal since each use costs exactly 25%. Deliberately powerful interaction.
Void Fiend has 8 skills total - 4 in Controlled form and 4 Corrupted equivalents. No alternate unlocks exist; all skills are available from the start. The Corrupted form has no alternate skills either - the only character in the game without any unlock challenges for skill variants.
Fire a slowing long-range beam for 300% damage. Has inherent aim assist toward nearby enemies. Very long effective range. Slows enemies hit.
Fire a plasma missile for 600% damage. Hold to fully charge it into a plasma ball for 1100% damage. Charge time is approximately 1 second at base. Full charge pushes both Void Fiend and enemies back. Can charge while sprinting or during Trespass.
Disappear into the Void, cleansing all debuffs while moving in an upward arc. Invulnerable during the dash. Distance scales with movement speed. Can be cancelled early.
Crush 25% Corruption to heal yourself for 25% maximum HP. Can be used at any Corruption level. Usable multiple times in succession to fully heal at the cost of all Corruption.
Fire a short-range beam for 2000% damage. Ticks approximately 8 times per second at base attack speed. Pierces through enemies. Slows Void Fiend by 50% while firing. Gains +100 armor while in Corrupted form.
Fire a plasma bomb at full charge automatically - no charge time needed. Deals 1100% damage with doubled AoE versus normal Flood. Fires in an arc. All secondary charges reset when entering or exiting Corrupted form.
Disappear into the Void and launch forward in a flat arc instead of upward. Grants temporary movement speed during the animation. Moves faster and farther than normal Trespass. Invulnerable during the dash.
Crush 25% maximum HP as self-damage to gain 25% Corruption. Extends Corrupted form duration. Self-damage does not proc on-hit items like Crowbar or Delicate Watch.
Void Fiend requires the Survivors of the Void DLC and is unlocked by completing the Dragged Below challenge. Two methods available:
Reach the Planetarium and defeat the Voidling (the alternate final boss). Three ways to get there: complete the Void Fields then Void Locus, find a random Void Portal after Stage 6, or defeat Mithrix then pet the frog on the Primordial Teleporter 10 times for a Deep Void Portal.
Difficulty: Hard. Voidling is a multi-phase boss.
Survive 50 waves in the Simulacrum game mode. Every 5th wave includes a boss. Use Drizzle difficulty with Artifacts of Command and Sacrifice for an easier run.
Difficulty: Moderate. Easier than Voidling for most players.
Simulacrum Wave 50 on Drizzle is the easier method for most players. Use Artifacts of Command (choose your items), Sacrifice (enemies drop items on kill), and Kin (only one enemy type spawns) to make waves more manageable. Every 5th wave is a boss - be prepared.
Void Fiend's item priorities split between two goals: attack speed to boost Corrupted Drown's DPS, and crit items that simultaneously increase damage and fuel Corruption to sustain Corrupted form. Avoid Crowbar, Focus Crystal, and Delicate Watch - all amplify Corrupted Suppress's self-damage and can kill you.
Attack speed increases Corrupted Drown's tick rate directly (the number of damage ticks per second scales with attack speed). More ticks means more on-hit procs and faster DPS. Also speeds up Flood's charge time.
10% crit per stack. Critical strikes generate Corruption, helping sustain Corrupted form longer. At high crit chance, crits fuel enough Corruption to maintain the form through extended fights.
Adds an extra Flood/Corrupted Flood charge. All secondary charges reset when entering or exiting Corrupted form, making extra charges even more valuable. Corrupted Flood with two charges can cross entire maps.
On-crit: +12% attack speed up to 3 stacks. Pairs with Lens-Maker's to both generate Corruption from crits and boost Corrupted Drown's tick rate simultaneously.
Hits above 400% trigger a flame tornado. Flood deals 600% minimum, and Corrupted Flood deals 1100% - both reliably proc Kjaro's Band on every cast regardless of charge level.
Hits above 400% trigger an ice blast and 80% slow. Same proc condition as Kjaro's Band. Both bands fire on every Flood and Corrupted Flood cast, adding massive burst on top of secondary damage.
Void Fiend's base speed is 7 m/s. Movement speed extends Trespass and Corrupted Trespass distance, and helps Void Fiend stay mobile in Corrupted form where Corrupted Drown's short range demands positioning.
Doubles healing effectiveness. Suppress heals 25% max HP for 25% Corruption normally - with one Rejuvenation Rack it heals 50% max HP for the same cost. Dramatically improves Suppress efficiency.
In Controlled form: stay at range, use Drown to poke, charge Flood for burst on elites, and use Suppress preemptively to delay Corruption and maintain your healing access. In Corrupted form: close the gap, hold Corrupted Drown on targets, and use Corrupted Flood for AoE coverage. The form transition is involuntary at 100% - plan around it rather than fighting it.
Controlled form: Treat it as a safe long-range phase. Drown from distance, fire Flood at elites for band procs, use Trespass to dodge dangerous attacks, and manage Corruption by using Suppress before it hits 100%. Corrupted form: Treat it as a burst phase. Close distance, hold Corrupted Drown on the toughest target in range, and let the +100 armor absorb hits. Use Corrupted Trespass aggressively to reposition.
Flood charge into Trespass: Start charging Flood, then immediately use Trespass to reposition. The charge continues during the dash and Flood can be released during Trespass's invulnerable frames. This lets you fire a fully charged shot while invincible.
Suppress timing: Use Suppress before Corruption hits 100% to stay in Controlled form. You do not need to wait until low health - Suppress at full HP still reduces Corruption. Proactive use keeps you in the safer, healing-enabled form.
Corrupted form entry invincibility: Transitioning into Corrupted form gives 0.5 seconds of invincibility. This can be deliberately timed to survive burst damage.
Fall damage cancellation: Both Flood and Corrupted Flood cancel fall damage when fired at the ground just before landing. With Backup Magazine stacks, Corrupted Flood can also extend air time and provide horizontal mobility.
Items to avoid: Crowbar, Focus Crystal, and Delicate Watch all increase the self-damage from Corrupted Suppress. Since Corrupted Suppress deals damage to yourself, these items amplify it when you are at high HP or in focus crystal range, making Corrupted form genuinely dangerous to stay in.
Complete the Dragged Below challenge with the Survivors of the Void DLC active. Either defeat the Voidling in the Planetarium (alternate ending) or survive 50 waves in the Simulacrum game mode. Simulacrum on Drizzle with Artifacts of Command and Sacrifice is the easier route for most players.
Corruption is Void Fiend's core mechanic. It builds from taking damage, landing crits, and passively in combat. At 100% Corruption, Void Fiend enters Corrupted form: all four skills change, healing is disabled, and Void Fiend gains +100 armor. Suppress reduces Corruption to stay in Controlled form. Each void item raises the minimum Corruption floor by 2%.
Corrupted form has significantly higher burst damage - Corrupted Drown deals 2000% versus Drown's 300%, and the +100 armor makes Void Fiend much tankier. However, it disables all healing and relies on Corrupted Suppress's self-damage to extend it. Controlled form is safer and provides access to Suppress's healing. Most players spend as much time in Corrupted form as possible once their HP is healthy.
Crowbar, Focus Crystal, and Delicate Watch all interact badly with Corrupted Suppress. Since Corrupted Suppress deals self-damage, these items can amplify that damage significantly when conditions are met (high HP for Crowbar, close range for Focus Crystal, undamaged for Delicate Watch). Barrier from items is also counterproductive since it does not reduce Corruption but still increases it when you take damage through it.
No. Void Fiend is the only survivor in Risk of Rain 2 with no alternate skill unlocks and no skill variant challenges. All 8 skills (4 normal + 4 corrupted) are available immediately once the character is unlocked.
