Twisted Scavengers are four powerful boss variants found exclusively in A Moment, Whole, a hidden realm only accessible via Beads of Fealty. One is chosen randomly per visit. They share the regular Scavenger's attacks but each carries a unique preset loadout of items including one Lunar item or equipment. Defeating one drops 10 Lunar Coins and permanently ends the run. Beating one on Monsoon also unlocks your current survivor's Mastery skin.
The Twisted Scavenger is one of the most hidden encounters in the game. You need a specific Lunar item and to have looped at least once.
Get Beads of Fealty (Lunar item) from a Lunar Pod, Bazaar Between Time, or world drop. It appears to do nothing but is required for this route.
Loop your run at least once. After your first loop, Stage 3 will occasionally have a Celestial Portal (blue portal) appear after completing the teleporter event.
Enter the Celestial Portal to reach A Moment, Fractured. Navigate the floating islands to reach the Obelisk.
With Beads of Fealty in your inventory, interact with the Obelisk and choose to obliterate yourself from existence. Instead of ending your run, you are transported to A Moment, Whole.
One of the four Twisted Scavengers will be waiting. Defeat it and open its sack quickly before the screen fully fades to collect 10 Lunar Coins. The run ends afterward.
After killing the Twisted Scavenger, open its sack immediately. 10 Lunar Coins drop but the screen fades to black quickly. You have only a few seconds before the run ends and uncollected coins are lost permanently.
Which Scavenger you face is random each visit. All four share identical attacks, but their item loadouts make each fight feel completely different. They also continue to gain items during the fight via the Take Item ability, just like regular Scavengers.
| Name | HP | Key Items | Equipment | Main Threat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kipkip the Gentle | 3,230 | Queen's Gland, Medkit, Aegis, Tougher Times | Visions of Heresy | Beetle Guards blocking run end. Kill all guards before the screen fully fades. |
| Guragura the Lucky | 3,230 | 3 Tri-Tip Daggers, 57 Leaf Clover, Kjaro's Band, Runald's Band | Spinel Tonic | 84% bleed chance per shotgun pellet. Shotgun has proc 2.0 so bleed stacks extremely fast. Bleed duration is doubled. |
| Twiptwip the Devotee | 3,230 | Gasoline x2, Soulbound Catalyst, Fuel Cells | Glowing Meteorite | Gasoline + Thqwib on-kill procs = fire chain explosions. Soulbound Catalyst + Fuel Cells = frequent Glowing Meteorite use raining 600% meteors. |
| Wipwip the Wild | 4,845 | Shaped Glass, Brilliant Behemoth, Will-o'-the-wisp, Disposable Missile Launcher | Disposable Missile Launcher | Highest HP of the four. Thqwib on-kill procs trigger Behemoth explosions and Will-o'-the-wisp. Every kill causes area explosions. Missiles everywhere. |
All four variants share the regular Scavenger's attack kit. Their power comes entirely from their items amplifying these base attacks.
Winds up for 2.33 seconds then fires 3 blasts (4 projectiles each) at 150m/s, 300% damage each, proc coefficient 2.0. First blast forward, next two at 3 degrees left/right. The 2.0 proc makes every hit trigger item effects twice. Stay at range.
Throws 6 exploding Thqwib projectiles. Each activates on-kill item effects on landing. Against Wipwip and Twiptwip, Thqwibs trigger Brilliant Behemoth, Will-o'-the-wisp, and Gasoline chain explosions. Dodge sideways.
Sits down and searches its bag. Gains 200 armor + 1/3 damage reduction for 3.5 seconds while searching. Finds a random Common/Uncommon/Legendary item and equips it. 19s cooldown. Save burst skills for after this animation.
Every shotgun pellet has a proc coefficient of 2.0, meaning it rolls item effects twice per hit. Against Guragura's 3 Tri-Tip Daggers and 57 Leaf Clover, each pellet has an 84% chance to apply bleed - and bleed duration is doubled. At close range all 12 pellets can hit. Stay at distance and keep moving.
The fight shares the same core strategy regardless of which variant you face, with specific adjustments per Scavenger.
Stay at maximum range at all times. The shotgun's 2.0 proc coefficient makes close range lethal with almost any item loadout. The Scavenger is slow (3 m/s) so maintaining distance is straightforward. Focus DPS during the 2.33 second shotgun wind-up window. Save burst skills for after Take Item ends.
Never stand close. The 2.0 proc shotgun at close range is lethal on any variant. Bleed from Guragura, Gasoline chains from Twiptwip, and Behemoth explosions from Wipwip all become fatal at short range. 3 m/s movement speed means distance is trivial to maintain.
Take Item windows are free damage. When the Scavenger sits and searches below 50% HP it gains 200 armor but doesn't attack. Don't waste burst skills on this phase. Use the window to reposition and prepare your strongest attack for when it stands back up.
Against Kipkip: kill the Beetle Guards first. After killing Kipkip, the run only ends once all monsters on stage are dead. Its Beetle Guards from Queen's Gland can stall the screen fade indefinitely. Hunt them immediately after opening the sack.
Against Guragura: avoid shotgun at all costs. The bleed chance per pellet is 84% with doubled duration. At any reasonable range this is survivable. At close range with all 12 pellets hitting it is instant death from bleed stacking.
Against Twiptwip: watch the Glowing Meteorite. Soulbound Catalyst plus Fuel Cells means equipment activates frequently. Glowing Meteorite rains 600% meteor blasts for 20 seconds hitting both enemies and allies. Move constantly and don't stand still.
Against Wipwip: respect the Thqwibs. Wipwip's Brilliant Behemoth and Will-o'-the-wisp turn every Thqwib throw into a massive area explosion. The detonations can one-shot if multiple chain together. Dodge sideways as soon as you see the throw animation.
Push it off the map. The Scavenger can be knocked to the arena edge and fall off instantly. Its sack warps to the main area. This is a cheese strat but fully legitimate - Captain's Diablo Strike and Loader's grapple pull are good for this.
Beyond the 10 Lunar Coins, the main incentive for most players is the Mastery skin. Defeating any Twisted Scavenger on Monsoon difficulty counts as obliterating and completes that survivor's Mastery challenge, permanently unlocking their alternate skin. It is significantly easier to do here than to complete Mithrix on Monsoon since the Twisted Scavenger, while dangerous, has a predictable and slow moveset. Dying to the Twisted Scavenger does not count.
Any survivor with strong ranged DPS and mobility has the advantage. The 2.0 proc shotgun punishes melee range severely.
Snipe from max range to avoid the 2.0 proc coefficient shotgun. XQR locks on through its slow movement. High single-target DPS ends the fight fast before the Scavenger can use its Take Item ability or equipment. Keeps you out of Thqwib kill proc range.
High burst damage and grapple mobility. Charged Gauntlet can stagger the Scavenger during its bag search. Barrier absorbs bleed procs (Guragura). Strong across all four variants.
Smokebomb invincibility dodges shotgun blasts cleanly. Lights Out reset potential on the large HP pool. Backstab crits deal massive damage during the long Thqwib throw and Take Item animations. High single-target burst.
Defensive Microbots shoot down individual shotgun pellets, significantly reducing Guragura's bleed threat. Hacking Beacon can be used on the stage interactables. Diablo Strike burst. Shock Beacons interrupt bag searches.
Poison scales well against high HP pools. Blight DoT continues ticking during Take Item phases where the Scavenger gains 200 armor. Frenzied Leap mobility keeps Acrid away from Thqwib explosions. Note: killing this boss does not complete Acrid's Bad Medicine challenge.
Must fight in melee range of a boss whose shotgun has 2.0 proc coefficient at close range. Eviscerate I-frames dodge shotgun blasts but Thqwib on-kill procs can catch him in explosion chains, especially against Wipwip or Twiptwip.
Strong burst but sustained fire into the Scavenger's massive HP pool during Take Item (200 armor) phases feels wasted without timing. Ion Surge mobility helps. Flamethrower at close range during shotgun wind-up is dangerous.
Twisted Scavengers are four special boss variants of the regular Scavenger found only in A Moment, Whole hidden realm. Each has a preset item and equipment loadout including one Lunar item. One is randomly chosen per visit. Defeating one drops 10 Lunar Coins and ends the run.
Obtain the Beads of Fealty Lunar item, loop your run at least once, then enter the Celestial Portal that appears on Stage 3 after completing the teleporter event. Navigate A Moment, Fractured to the Obelisk and obliterate yourself. With Beads of Fealty you are sent to A Moment, Whole instead of ending the run normally.
No. Its sack drops 10 Lunar Coins, not items. The run ends after, so you cannot take the coins back into the run. Collect them immediately before the screen fully fades to black.
Yes. Defeating a Twisted Scavenger on Monsoon difficulty counts as obliterating and completes the Mastery challenge for your current survivor, unlocking their alternate skin. Dying to the Twisted Scavenger does NOT count as obliterating and does not unlock Mastery.
Wipwip the Wild has the most HP (4,845 base) and Brilliant Behemoth + Will-o'-the-wisp makes every Thqwib throw into a massive explosion chain. Guragura the Lucky is arguaby the most lethal due to the 84% bleed chance per shotgun pellet from Tri-Tip Daggers and 57 Leaf Clover combined with 2.0 proc coefficient. Twiptwip's Glowing Meteorite with frequent equipment activation is the most chaotic.
When the Twisted Scavenger drops below 50% HP, it searches its bag and gains 200 armor plus 1/3 damage reduction for 3.5 seconds while sitting. During this window normal attacks deal almost nothing. Wait it out or save a high-burst skill for when it stands back up.
No. Twisted Scavengers are one of the few boss monsters that cannot spawn as Elites under normal conditions. They can only be Elite if corrupted by a Void Infestor.
The run only ends when all monsters on the stage are dead. If you fought Kipkip the Gentle, the Beetle Guards it summoned via Queen's Gland must all be killed before the fading countdown proceeds. Kill all remaining Beetle Guards immediately after opening the sack.
