The best Megachad build in Megabonk runs Aura with Size Tome and Cooldown Tome to reduce the gap between Flex stun pulses and widen the AoE coverage, turning him into one of the most survivable characters in the game with minimal active positioning.
His Flex passive stuns nearby enemies automatically on a cooldown that decreases with each level. This means he can stand in the middle of a dense pack and interrupt attacks repeatedly. Cooldown Tome accelerates the pulse frequency so enemies spend more time stunned than attacking.
The Kevin item combination (requires Mirror) is Megachad's highest ceiling play. Kevin damages Megachad, Mirror grants invulnerability (no sprite available), and at sufficient attack speed the invulnerability windows overlap to create an effectively immortal state. This requires specific items but is devastating when it comes together.
The three builds below cover the AFK meta, a damage-forward variant, and an entry-level setup. Head back to the builds hub to browse every other character.
Megachad
Passive, Flex: Stops incoming damage and stuns nearby enemies on cooldown. Cooldown decreases by 0.2s per level. Each Flex also grants +2.5% damage, making it both a defensive and offensive passive.

Why
0-3 min
Aura + Size Tome
Size Tome widens Aura immediately, increasing the area that damages and weakens enemies on every pulse. Take it first.
3-7 min
Cooldown Tome + Aegis
Cooldown Tome reduces Flex stun intervals. Aegis adds a defensive pulse layer. Both items reduce the damage Megachad takes by keeping enemies interrupted more frequently.
7-11 min
Revolver + Damage Tome
Revolver handles targets outside Aura range. Damage Tome raises output across all weapons.
11+ min
Bananarang + Quantity Tome
Bananarang bounces between groups Aura weakens. Quantity raises Revolver and Bananarang projectile counts.
The damage-forward variant adds Dexecutioner to execute low-health enemies after Aura and Revolver weaken them. More aggressive than the AFK build but requires slightly more positioning awareness to keep elites within Dexecutioner range.

How to Play Megachad in Megabonk
Kevin is the ceiling item
The Kevin combination makes Megachad effectively immortal at sufficient attack speed. Kevin damages him, Mirror triggers invulnerability on each hit, and fast enough attack speed causes the windows to overlap. If both items appear in the same run, prioritise reaching that state above all else.
Cooldown Tome accelerates Flex
The Flex passive cooldown reduction per level is small. Cooldown Tome makes each stun interval noticeably shorter. In dense waves the difference between stunning every five seconds and every two seconds is the difference between taking damage and taking none.
Stay central on the map
Megachad's Aura damage and Flex stun are both centred on his position. Standing against a wall cuts the effective radius in half. Moving to the centre of approaching enemies maximises both area coverage and stun reach.
Do not rush item purchases early
Megachad's survival comes from his passive, not items. In the early game, holding gold and using Flex to survive is viable. Spend on items once a clear synergy is visible, not just to fill inventory slots.
Best Items for Megachad
All three items are sourced from wiki and community guides. Idle Juice is wiki-confirmed as pairing with Aura-style builds specifically.
Idle Juice
Up to +100% damage while stationary. The Idle Juice wiki page confirms it pairs with Aura-style builds. Megachad naturally stands in dense swarms letting Aura deal damage, activating the bonus consistently.
Demonic Soul
Damage scales with kills. Named in community guides specifically for the Megachad nuke build. Megachad's Flex stun clears groups, accumulating kill count quickly for the damage bonus.
Moldy Cheese
Poison on every Aura tick. Megachad stays close to large groups so Aura hits continuously, making Moldy Cheese proc poison on many enemies simultaneously. Named in community guides for Megachad.
How to Unlock Megachad in Megabonk

How Good is Megachad in Megabonk?
Megachad's leaderboard viability is centred on the Mirror and Kevin item combination. When active at high attack speed, the invulnerability uptime becomes near-total. Leaderboard runs using this setup add XP Tome, Curse Tome, and Luck Tome to accelerate finding both items and reaching the required attack speed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Aura is the primary weapon because it deals damage in all directions without aiming, matching Megachad's tank playstyle. It scales with Size Tome which is the first priority pick.
Size Tome. It widens both Aura and Aegis coverage immediately. A wider Aura means more enemies are damaged and weakened before Flex stuns them.
Kevin damages Megachad on hit. Mirror grants invulnerability when hit. At high attack speed, Kevin hits fast enough that Mirror's invulnerability windows overlap continuously, making Megachad unkillable. Three Leeching Crystals create Kevin.
Survive 15 minutes in a single run and purchase him from the Unlocks tab with Silver. Any character works for the unlock but Megachad himself is the easiest target character once you have him.
Yes. He is rated Easy because Flex stuns enemies automatically and Aura requires no aiming. New players can focus on learning game mechanics without needing to master weapon positioning.
Yes. Cooldown Tome reduces all cooldowns including the Flex passive. More frequent stun pulses reduce the damage Megachad takes, which is more impactful than increasing his damage output in the early game.
With Mirror and Kevin active he deals less direct damage but becomes unkillable, enabling very long runs that rack up kill counts passively. Without that combination he deals solid AoE damage through Aura and Revolver.
Play the standard build with Aura, Damage Tome, and Bananarang. Megachad is still a strong tank character without the Kevin combination, just not a leaderboard contender.
Yes. Each level reduces Flex cooldown and increases survivability. XP Tome brings higher levels faster, which accelerates the passive improvement. It also helps find Mirror and Kevin earlier through more frequent shop visits.
Aegis pulses outward when Megachad takes damage, dealing area damage. Combined with Flex stuns and Aura's constant damage, it adds another layer of passive damage output without requiring active use.
