What are Items in Megabonk?

Items in Megabonk are passive collectibles that permanently modify your run. There are 77 items total - 35 available by default, the rest unlocked through specific quests and purchased with Silver from the Unlocks menu. Items drop from Treasure Chests and the Shady Guy NPC, and knowing which ones to prioritize is one of the most impactful decisions in the game. Unlike weapons and tomes, items are not upgraded on level-up. You either have them or you don't, making each chest a meaningful choice - especially in long Tier 3 runs.

How to Unlock Items Meet the unlock requirement, then go to Main Menu - Unlocks - Items and purchase with Silver. The item then enters your loot pool for future runs. Some items like Anvil and Overpowered Lamp are unique - once you have one copy in a run they are removed from the pool, preventing duplicates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about items in Megabonk.

What are the Best Items in Megabonk?

The strongest items in Megabonk are Anvil, Overpowered Lamp, Kevin, Holy Book, and Mirror.

Anvil adds an extra stat to every weapon upgrade for the entire run. Overpowered Lamp doubles the proc rate of every on-hit item you have.

Kevin and Mirror are widely discussed as a strong defensive combo by the community. Holy Book gives +100 Max HP and +50 HP Regen in a single pickup, plus a healing aura on top.

That said, the best item in any run depends on your character and build. A top-tier item that doesn't fit your setup is often worth less than a B-tier item that does.

What are the Best Legendary Items in Megabonk?

Legendary items are the rarest rarity tier in Megabonk, identified by a yellow background on the item icon.

Anvil and Holy Book are widely considered the best legendaries. Anvil's extra weapon stat bonus compounds across every upgrade from the moment you find it. Holy Book's HP, regen, and damage aura are hard to match for value per item slot.

Overpowered Lamp is also a top legendary in builds with multiple on-hit items. It effectively doubles your proc output across the board at no additional cost.

How Do Items Work in Megabonk?

Items are passive collectibles that apply a permanent effect for the rest of your run the moment you pick them up. They are not upgraded on level-up like weapons and tomes.

Items are found in Treasure Chests across the map, or purchased from the Shady Guy NPC when he appears during a run.

To get a specific item to appear, you need to unlock it by completing its quest condition, then purchase it with Silver from Main Menu - Unlocks - Items. Once purchased, it enters your loot pool and can appear in future runs.

Some items like Anvil and Overpowered Lamp are unique. Once you have a copy in a run, they are removed from the pool so you cannot find duplicates.
